Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and hardworking Safety Manager for immediate employment. This position is located in Panama City, FL.

Develops and manages SH&E programs for the company, business lines, regions, and/or clients. Provides leadership and support to Operations to help the organization achieve SH&E goals and objectives. Assists the business to meet regulatory requirements relating to specific SH&E obligations e.g. trained SH&E professionals in business/projects, officer duties, statutory reporting etc.

  • Implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with health and safety requirements of the organization.

  • Provides technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are being enforced.

  • Ensures that quality control procedures are executed to monitor all aspects of regulations.

  • Serves in a liaison capacity with the resident contract agency representative and other various agencies engaged in promoting environmental safety and health activities.

  • Drafts all necessary reports to federal, state and local agencies.

  • Coordinates audits of health and safety programs within the organization.

  • Assists in the development and conducts basic health, safety and environment (HSE) training to employees.

  • Communicates programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance.

  • May administer a HSE program on a large, specialized, complex project or multiple projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuring that an appropriate safety quality assurance program is established and effectively executed.

  • Verifying, such as by checking, auditing, inspecting, and testing that activities affecting the safety-related functions or QA Program have been correctly performed.

  • Execute all planned and systematic actions necessary to provide adequate confidence that a structure, system, or component will perform satisfactorily in service.

  • Provide reports that furnish evidence of the quality of items and/or activities affecting quality.

  • Complete all the QA activities related to the examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting.

  • Identifying and following up on corrective action items; and closing out audit findings.

  • Identify and correct conditions adverse to quality.

  • Oversee construction efforts by contractors.

  • Provide daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly QA progress reports.

  • Maintain the List of Open Points (LOP) of construction issues.

  • Assist with Lean Construction activities.

  • Assist with reviews and updating of Contractor Construction Reports.

  • Facilitate weekly Safety Meetings and Safety Preparatory Meetings & Safety Initial Meetings/Inspections as needed for definable Items of work.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • OSHA 30-hour Certification.

  • Familiar with requirements of and experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.

  • Computer/Software proficiency with Microsoft Office proficiency required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Required training, experience and qualifications in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Section 01.A.17.

  • Proficient in English in both written and oral communication.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.

  • Experience working on Military construction projects.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal education and training in occupational safety and health.

  • USACE (United States Army Corp of Engineers) Construction Quality Management for Contractors Training/Certification.
