We have an exciting opportunity for you to lead the Engineering function of our Oak Hill site including management of the Engineering team, activities and all Engineering projects. This will include accountability for talent management, capability building, mentoring and best practice sharing. Typically, you will responsible for managing 5 to 6 direct reports with up to 50 indirect reports (additional oversight of facilities contractors and engineering project contractors).

Our Consumer Healthcare manufacturing center in East Durham, NY, is one of the most advanced operations of its kind in the world. Dedicated to the production of oral healthcare brands such as Sensodyne, Pronamel, Parodontax, & Aquafresh, we produce in excess of 5 million per week for consumers across the globe.

This role would suit a driven and motivated individual who has strong experience of working in a complex GMP environment and will be a degree-qualified engineer. Equally as important will be your leadership and coaching skills in complex cross-functional problem-solving situations.

You will have a strong track-record of delivering shop-floor operational efficiency improvements as this is key to successfully delivering in this role. You will be experienced in leading projects through influence (with the ability to clearly demonstrate the benefits of new ways of working). It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to drive common-objective thinking, with a complete focus on providing solutions. You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience of dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.

Leading all Engineering Activity for the Manufacturing Site, Including:

  • Engineering Management of site (Facilities, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Maintenance, Capital projects, Spare Parts)
  • Leading the safety agenda, working in close collaboration with EHS
  • Lead and deploy a strong maintenance reliability programme, to improve equipment performance and reduce breakdowns contributing to OEE losses and downtime.
  • Develop and deploy a comprehensive environmental sustainability programme, focused on energy & water reduction, renewable energy opportunities and overall reduction in the site carbon footprint.
  • Engineering budget management with an obsessive drive on cost control & efficiency (Engineering OPEX & Capex)
  • Leads Capital Projects on the Manufacturing Site, including the development and execution of the Facility Master Plan
  • Strong collaboration with the Operations Technology function, driving the digital strategy for the site
  • Build Team: Hire, coach, develop and build capability for Engineering Team
  • Manage engineering related due diligence as applicable

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering
  • 10 years professional Engineering experience
  • Delivery experience in compliance & Health & Safety within a regulated industry - process, machinery, containment & contractor safety, hazardous area protection concepts & hazardous utilities.
  • Project / programme management experience
  • Experience in interacting with regulators & auditors are required.
  • Experience in complex technical trouble shooting, RCA & CAPA effectiveness
  • People management and development experience
  • Demonstrated leadership of operational engineering teams, deploying world class maintenance strategies (e.g. TPM)
  • Experience of managing business cases & site strategies, including Facility Master Plans

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Bachelors Degree in mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • MBA
