Job Description:
The System Design & Performance (SD&P) Directorate is responsible for Signal Processing (SP), Systems Design (SD), Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), and Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MSA) for RMDs broad portfolio of projects, programs and products. Signal Processing has the responsibility to design and develop Radar and Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) models and algorithms, conduct system trades/sensitivity analyses and conduct performance assessments to support our products and new business initiatives. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Key Tasks:
Working in detailed high fidelity simulations written in C/C++ and MATLAB to develop, prototype, and test radar and/or EO/IR signal processing algorithms and sensor models
Conducting performance trade-off and sensitivity analysis for missile radar and/or EO/IR sensor applications
Working in production and engineering lab test environments and field test environments to test, verify, and validate radar and/or EO/IR sensor models and signal processing algorithm requirements and performance
Working in a team environment in all phases of missile development from program start up to live fire test, to provide engineering support by participating in project design reviews and peer reviews, including technical briefings to internal leadership and external customers
Required Education and Skills:
Master of Science or Master of Arts degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree with a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Must be either currently pursuing degree or degree must have been granted in the last 18 months.
Experience using C++ (preferred), C, Java, or Python
Experience using MATLAB
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
In undergraduate and graduate coursework, must have completed or be currently registered for at least five of the classes listed below in italics. Those classes must fall into at least three of the four areas listed below:
1) Signal Processing / Image Processing:
Signals & Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Signal Processing, Image Processing, Image Analysis, Computer Vision, or equivalent
2) Probability & Statistics:
Probability, Statistics, Stochastic Processes, Random Processes, Random Signals, or equivalent
3) Linear Algebra:
Linear Algebra, Matrix Theory, Linear Systems, Linear Control Systems, Matrix Analysis, or equivalent
4) Electricity & Magnetism:
Electromagnetics, Electricity & Magnetism, or equivalent
Desired Education and Skills:
ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Coursework or experience in artificial intelligence or machine learning
Experience applying signal processing techniques to radar data, visible or infrared images, or video data
Experience with running and modifying simulations and performing analysis
Experience with radar and/or EO/IR sensor and environment models
Experience using UNIX/Linux based workstations
Experience with hardware/software integration
Ability to develop and present technical briefings
Ability to work well in teams and independently
Good communication, interpersonal, planning and time management skills
Experience in autonomous and collaborative systems
Current/Active DoD clearance or SSBI
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
