Service Business Development Specialist €“ North America

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences is seeking a hardworking and multifaceted individual to fill the Service Business Development position for Service Inside Sales €“ North America. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing organization and the incumbent will be responsible for directing a team and growing the commercial service business in North America based in Indianapolis, IN.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full-service Sales responsibility for defined agreement base.
  • Drive improvement in service warranty and Unit Add business including timeliness of developing new business, warranty conversion, and selling new services.
  • Serve as a point of contact to hardware sales team with the objective of retaining growing service attachment business.
  • Provide the team with all vital information in order to facilitate the service agreement transactions.
  • Analyze the performance of the team throughout the sales process to identify areas of concern and standard methodologies. Use this analysis to provide feedback and work on areas of focus to improve the team performance.
  • Align with the service marketing team to find opportunities for campaigns, early renewal incentive programs, customer dedication programs, etc.
  • Developing materials for use by Field Service Engineers and Service Inside Sales reps to facilitate an increase in supplemental contract conversions and new business.
  • Facilitate regular customer communications, including business reviews with our top customer on a regular basis.
  • Work with the field to develop growth opportunities that impact top line growth.
  • Platform accounts and resolve various avenues of growth.
  • Coach and mentor Inside Sales reps through the rollout of new programs and onboarding.
  • Develop key metrics to demonstrate quantifiable results (Funnel management, Forecasting and planning)
  • Ensure flawless execution of assigned programs.
  • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.

    Key Proficiencies include:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills with cross-functional teams.
    • Interpersonal skills, ability to listen, and eye for business skills. Standout Colleague.
    • Microsoft Office skills - specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
    • Working knowledge of tableau, MS Tables and any other data analysis tool is preferred.
    • Ability to articulate and understand how to use data to drive decision making.
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects to secure business execution with local teams.
    • Self-starter that can work independently and take action with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Results oriented - able to clearly separate effort from results. Must possess the ability to quickly gather data, identify trends/issues, and clearly communicate next steps and aggressively follow-up to ensure that opportunities are closed.


      • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, engineering relevant field is required.
      • 2 to 5 years of work experience in sales, account management or customer service is required.
      • Experience communicating value propositions is required.
      • Understanding of revenue, profit, mix and margin.
      • Experience in sales forecasting, account mapping and planning.
      • Lean and six-sigma understanding.
