Senior Systems Engineer II

We are currently recruiting a mid-level Systems Engineer who will work on next-generation technologies for advanced small Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV) technologies in support of the Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division.  You'll perform project system design and requirement activities while working closely with the Program Chief Engineer who is responsible for the project's technical solution. In this role, you'll interact with other systems engineers, and collaborates with our mechanical, electrical, software, and aerospace engineers in planning, designing, manufacturing, and testing of systems to ensure system software and hardware requirements are traced to the design and formally verified/validated.  The position will coordinate directly with customer, subcontractor, and vendor personnel through written and oral communication.

You will demonstrate success through:
  • Performing hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation
  • System specification development, creation and enforcement of interface control documents, system risk management, and system configuration management
  • Development of concepts of employment, uses cases, sequence diagrams, and service contracts
  • Creation, maintenance, and usage requirements related documentation and databases for multiple programs
  • Responsibility for verifying all requirements are met using the approved verification method and documenting the verification results   

    Required experience and skills:

    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • Must have existing DoD clearance with a current 5-year update; must be able to obtain and maintain TS/SSBI
    • Must have at least a BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
    • Minimum of 7 years' experience in requirements development, design, implementation, integration and test of aircraft or missile related technical systems
    • System level design experience in which the applicant has led or been significantly involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution options
    • Demonstrated expertise in Systems Engineering disciplines and the government program acquisition lifecycle, to include requirements definition, creation of requirements verification test matrices, requirements decomposition, requirements traceability, design reviews and documentation, and integration and test
    • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple programs and responsibilities simultaneously
    • Physical requirements include the ability to travel up to 10% to support field testing
      • Degree or relevant coursework in Systems Engineering
      • Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products
      • Unmanned systems experience
      • Experience in avionics systems including flight control computers and mission computers
      • Experience with requirements management using DOORS
      • Experience with service-oriented architecture and service contracts
      • Experience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations
