The B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP) in Oklahoma City will re-engine the B-52 fleet with modern, commercial engines to extend the life of the fleet through 2050 (or longer). The CERP program is currently doing risk-reduction, trade studies, and engine integration studies prior to engine source selection in 2020. This is a key program for the USAF customer and has visibility at all levels of BDS.

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior System Architect B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement.    This Level  5  position is located in Oklahoma City.


Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.

Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • The CERP program requires a senior systems architect whose responsibilities will be as follows:
  • The system architect is responsible for developing an architectural solution that satisfies system and customer requirements.
  • The system architect will lead the decomposition of military/federal aviation requirements and standards and be responsible for developing a technical solution that satisfies applicable airworthiness requirements.
  • The system architect will ensure all system interfaces are managed, and provide technical oversight to technology readiness levels for products in development.
  • The system architect will manage critical technology consistent with the company intellectual property processes.
  • The system architect will integrate the technology provided by product teams, system engineering, and test teams, and support the technical planning and change management to ensure development products to align to the system architecture.

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Previous experience working on development programs
    • Previous experience leading/managing systems interfaces
    • Previous experience leading/managing requirements decomposition

      Typical Education/Experience:

      Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

      Work Authorization:

      This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship

      This position offers Relocation based on candidate eligibility.
