Our location in Lake Forest, IL, currently has an opportunity for a Sr. Specialist Global Procurement.   The primary function of Global Purchasing is to purchase goods and services in an effective and economic manner in compliance with corporate policies, procedures and objectives.  You will be the subject matter expert for chemicals or biologic ingredients that are used in the manufacture of in-vitro diagnostics.


Execute global procurement strategies for the category of Chemicals and Biologics. Manage international supplier relationships, pricing negotiations and contracts. Work closely with suppliers, category managers and global operations to improve the quality, specifications and value of goods procured. Analyze and communicate supplier key performance indicators and support risk management for the supply base. Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels. Analyze supply chain related opportunities; take a broad perspective to identify and deliver solutions, drive change. Travel up to 10%.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • First line responder, pivots between strategy and operations.

  • Execute and develop against larger category strategies and work in the guidance of strategic category leaders and Directors.

  • Research and evaluate products and suppliers. Perform value analysis on costs and supplier quotes.

  • Support Purchase Order conversion and invoice error resolution.

  • Develop bids and proposal formats. Lead complex RFPs as well as lead small projects.

  • Manage Purchase Order change and evaluate the cause for change. Enable supplier integration and KPI's.

  • Communicate and educate appropriate departments to provide appropriate supporting documentation for purchases.

  • Educate on existing solutions and enable performance and technical tools development.

  • Solve complex problems. Drive value and lead savings outcomes.

  • Seek, develop and establish business relationships with diverse suppliers. Meet regularly with divisional customers and lead functions to ensure superior customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for efficiencies.

  • Drive innovative ways to maintain and improve procurement processes, cycle times, total acquisition costs, and customer service levels.



  • Bachelor’s Degree: Engineering, Science, Business, or Financial Degrees. 

  • 4-6 years of Procurement experience and / or deep Category experience


  • Direct procurement experience sourcing chemicals and/or biologics strongly preferred

  • Strong Project Management and negotiation skills required

  • Excellent people skills, excellent problem-solving skills, proficient in the use of spreadsheet programs and data analysis experience required.

  • Lead change with strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence and networking skills.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification.
