Cardiac Rhythm and Heart
Failure offers devices and therapies to treat abnormal heart rhythms, as well
as cardiac diagnostic and monitoring solutions.

MCS firmware team develops the next generation medical technologies that save
lives, improve quality of living for millions of patients across the
world. The MCS firmware team is one of
the most cutting edge team within Medtronic, working with various software
technologies in device firmware, application software, BT/BLE communication
software. The MCS firmware team is
looking for a proactive, self-starting, strong software development engineer to
build the next generation of medical instrument software.

a Senior Software Engineer in the Mechanical Circulatory Support RD
Organization developing software supporting Medtronic HVAD. The individual will operate in all phases and
contribute to all activities of the firmware/software development process.

**A Day in the Life**

In general, the following responsibilities apply:

+ Demonstrate ownershipof software feature/module and drive development of the feature/modulethrough SDLC.

+ Provide hands-onleadership, coaching, mentoring, and software engineering best practicesto junior software engineers.

+ Collaborate on thedesign with other team members and product owners, both inside and outsideof the team.

+ Contribute and applyadvanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve complextechnical problems.

For development engineer role, the following
responsibilities apply:

+ Design, implement,test, debug and document integration solutions and enhance existingcomponents to ensure that software meets the business needs, while incompliance with applicable regulations and processes.

+ Conduct design andcode reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding bestpractices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability andmaintainability guidelines.

+ Contribute to thedesign and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainablesoftware and clearly articulate the implications of design/architecturaldecisions, issues and plans to technology leadership.

+ Develop reusablepatterns and encourage innovation that will increase team velocity.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

**SpecializedKnowledge Required**

+ Strongknowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices

+ Strongverbal and written communication skills

+ Experiencewith configuration management tools

+ Proficiencywith two or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, C#,.NET, Python, and Perl

+ Familiarityand understanding of one or more of the following tools/technologies: Keil IDE,QT, SVN, TestTrack, CodeSonar, and Jenkins.

+ Familiaritywith both Agile and Waterfall software development methods.

+ Familiarityand understanding of one or more of the following embedded system and operatingsystems: ARM Cortex-M, QNX, IOS

**Nice to Have**

+ Proficiencyworking in a team environment

+ Strong leadership skills and mentoring capabilities

+ Experience in embedded system development usingmicrocontrollers, ex STM32F103x, Keil.

+ Experience in mobile software development, ex.iOS, Android

+ Experience in Microsoft Visual Studiodevelopment platforms/tools, Microsoft TFS, Microsoft Azure

+ Experience in QT framework, preferably in QNXenvironment.

+ Experience working within a regulatedenvironment.

+ Quality focus, willingness to learn, versatilityand adaptability
