The Senior Security Intelligence Specialist will be responsible for acquiring and analyzing geopolitical and security threats to Medtronic covering: political stability, civil and social unrest, labor unrest, crime, corruption, foreign relations, war and terrorism. This will include focusing work towards business development, liaison with business leaders, and advanced analysis of security intelligence in support of Medtronics current and future business opportunities. Sources will include open-source intelligence, Medtronic business units, colleagues at other multi-national corporations, federal, state and local law enforcement sensitive intelligence, Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), and private corporate intelligence providers. The senior analyst will monitor geopolitical and security environments worldwide and provide multidisciplinary analysis at both the operational and strategic levels, in support of Medtronic businesses, through various reporting methods (written reports, internal website, listserv, etc.) and other methods as requested by business units and functions.

The senior analyst will be responsible for assessing risks and threats to Medtronic business units and employees, liaising with the businesses operating in their region of responsibility and collaborating with internal functions to ensure intelligence is relevant and Medtronic specific. The senior analyst will also identify emerging trends and evaluate potential threats that may lead to risk for Medtronics employees, travelers, facilities, operations/logistics, customers, trading positions, reputation, and products.

The Senior Security Intelligence Specialist will also assist the Global Security Department with providing added value and risk-based security intelligence information in support of other areas of focus such as asset security, crisis management, executive protection, investigations, and other duties as assigned.



Monitor global geopolitical events that may impact international travel, company events, and/or operations, and provide periodic and timely reporting

Maintain awareness of issues that could affect business operations or the security of personnel and assets, including terrorism, violent crime, natural disasters, travel issues, criminal trends, civil unrest, and workplace violence

Assist in maintaining, populating, and evaluating intelligence databases and sources

Conduct regular monitoring of online open source intelligence, social media platforms, the dark web, and vendor tools for known and potential threats to Medtronic locations, employees, travelers, or assets and emerging incidents


Conduct strategic, tactical, and operational risk and threat assessments

Collect, assess, and organize intelligence and data into relevant, actionable reports

Use understanding of global security environment to prioritize, filter, and assess credibility of open source intelligence sources

Use analytical techniques, tools, and tradecraft to mitigate risk and add value to business decisions

Use research on a wide range of global issues to assess impact to Medtronic

Identify relevant emerging trends and early warning indicators

Engage with Medtronic stakeholders to identify intelligence and information requirements

Support other Corporate Security teams, such as executive protection, events, investigations, counter-intelligence, and physical security

Develop and evaluate source network


Produce insightful and actionable intelligence reports

Provide thorough and concise recommendations

Rapidly communicate emerging incidents and crises

Deliver briefings tailored to key stakeholders


Carry out duties in an honest and ethical manner, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality always in alignment with Medtronics Mission, Values and Goals

**Building Relationships**

Create and maintain a network of information sharing and partnering relationships

Build partnerships with internal strategic business partners and stakeholders

Develop relationships with external governmental, law enforcement, academic, and private sector professionals

Represent Medtronics Global Security Office at conferences, working groups, and intelligence sharing events

**MUST HAVE** (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelors degree

4+ years of experience with a bachelors degree or 2+ years of experience with an advanced degree

**NICE TO HAVE** (Preferred Qualifications)

Priority consideration will be given to local applicants

4+ years of experience in risk intelligence, threat analysis, business intelligence/analysis, competitive/market intelligence/analysis, crisis management, intelligence community, military, or law enforcement intelligence, GSOC

Advanced degree and 2+ years of experience in risk intelligence, threat analysis, business intelligence/analysis, competitive/market intelligence/analysis, crisis management, intelligence community, military, or law enforcement intelligence, GSOC

Advanced degree in a relevant field (such as international relations, regional studies, history, economics, political science)

Experience as an intelligence analyst with the federal government, or as a private sector security or political risk analyst

Internationally-focused intelligence work, portfolio, and expertise

Direct work experience in IT and/or security

Experience using analytic techniques to develop tailored intelligence products and provide threat or incident notifications

3+ years experience with security technology including alarm and access control and badging systems, CCTV systems, communication technologies, and/or software programs

Some experience IT, Information security, cyber, privacy knowledge, security incident management, and electronic forensics with healthcare IT solutions

Fluency in one or more languages other than English

Existing relationships with government, law enforcement, and global associations relevant to the position

Experience using intelligence analysis tools and platforms

Ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance

GSOC, Command Center, or Analytical Unit experience

Proven ability to operate effectively under adverse and stressful conditions with little supervision

Demonstrated analytical expertise; ability to accurately draw conclusions through synthesizing raw data and information from multiple unrelated sources into a finished comprehensive product

Superior writing and editing skills in English and understanding of intelligence analysis writing style and the intelligence cycle

Able to present and defend intelligence positions to a variety of audiences, including security colleagues, business representatives, and executives

In-depth knowledge of the global political, economic, and security environment; ability to identify international events of importance through multiple methods beyond the top headlines

Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks, while maintaining strict deadlines

Strong interpersonal and listening skills; a great degree of emotional intelligence and maturity

Strong technical abilities; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as social media

Experience creating Infographics and using data visualization tools

Willingness to work on-call, shift, and/or irregular hours

Light travel 10% (domestic and global)

Uses good judgment and proven ability to work with highly confidential information

Meticulous attention to detail, grammar, and style

Creative thinker, capable of spotting and forecasting emerging trends, threats, and tactics

Ability to build successful internal and external relationships and networks across cultures and industries

Demonstrated ability to mine open source information using a variety of technological tools and platforms
