Senior Regional Logistics Manager - EMEA

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior  Regional Logistics Manager will lead multiple teams in EMENA, RSA and Sweden.

This role will initiate and drive regional logistics strategies for warehouse management, transportation, fulfillment and inventory management, while managing to KPIs by overseeing the day to day activities of both Cepheid owned facilities and Third Party Logistics providers (3PL).  As the lead for regional strategy, this role will report to the Director of International Distribution and 3PL with dotted line responsibilities to the Cepheid Global Logistics group located in Sunnyvale, California.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop regional strategies that are aligned with Cepheid€™s strategies and goals.
  • Oversee regional teams to ensure they are aware of and driving toward goals aligned with Cepheid€™s company€™s strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with Cepheid€™s Regulatory, Quality & Trade Compliance teams
  • Manage region to annual goals set for On time delivery (OTD)
  • Manage region to annual goals set for Outbound Freight Recovery (OBFR)
  • Use Daily and Weekly Management tools to consistently achieve tactical objectives
  • Manage teams to achieve agreed response times for internal & external customers
  • Manage to annual cost goals per budget
  • Align 3PL partners with Danaher€™s Danaher Business System (DBS) strategies and visual management tools
  • Ensure the organization is compliant with Health and Safety and all other legal and financial requirements and transaction flows
  • Drive Continuous Business Improvements through all aspects of business
  • Anticipate and articulate business justification to management for additional headcount
  • Ensure 5S implementation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Analyze distribution flows and determine the most cost effective and/or efficient means of transporting goods
  • Coach, mentor, train and collaborate with managers to continually develop teams
  • Act as key escalation point for regions Logistics€™ vendors 
  • Negotiate with suppliers and transportation providers to improve supply chain efficiency
  • Participate in carrier management process including selection, qualification and performance measurement
  • Ensure teams are efficient and accurate with administration and management of all shipping documents
  • Anticipate need for delivery service in new locations and make appropriate preparation plan
  • Manage inventory accuracy in all sites to company goal
  • Establish and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) for teams and external suppliers
  • Create the appropriate environment for offering a high level of service to customers
  • Attend international meetings as determined to be necessary
  • Schedule and attend weekly 1:1€™s with direct reports
  • Actively use DBS at all locations of responsibility
  • Coordinates and attends, as needed, international project meetings via teleconference
  • Go to Gemba - Travel multiple times per year to all sites and teams managed
  • Provide weekly status updates on Global Logistics management
  • Conducts multiple formal performance reviews each year with direct reports

    TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure all associates attend and complete all required trainings satisfactorily and on time
    • Active career development management for all direct reports

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

      Experience, qualifications, skills required

      • Bachelor€™s Degree from an accredited college or university Or Master€™s/Doctoral Degree with 14+ years of experience AND 4 years managing people. Degree in subject area of Logistics, Supply Chain or Business management or related field is preferred

        Or

        • Master€™s/Doctoral degree with 12+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain in a wide spectrum of Freight forwarding, Local and National warehousing, Distribution, Customs compliance, Customer service, 3pl management, plus 4+ years managing people

          PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

          Qualities/Competencies:

          • Comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within Logistics and knowledge of other key business units, including Planning, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory
          • Experience with assigning appropriate resources to projects and tasks aligned with business objectives and annual plan
          • Critical operational and complex organizational problem solving experience
          • SAP or similar ERP technical competency
          • Inventory management and planning
          • Communication and negotiation skills
          • Influential and leadership skills
          • Strategic management skills
          • Excellent English skills

            Other Requirements:

            • Excellent skill level using Microsoft office tools
            • Must be willing and able to travel up to 35% of year
