Medtronics Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for a motivated engineer to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of medical devices. In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to accelerate the design and development of next generation medical devices. The work you do will impact patients globally and help support Medtronics mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for millions.


This engineering position requires strong technical and leadership skills to support the design and development of innovative, new products within the Coronary Structural Heart business. The Senior RD Engineer will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in working on complex technical problems, and will provide technical leadership of projects from concept generation through early phase development.


This position will be based in Santa Rosa, CA.


A Day in the Life


+ Work closely with cross-functional partners such as Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory and Quality, to take a product from ideation to market release.

+ Research and integrate new technologies and materials through the understanding and utilization of extensive technical knowledge and understanding of complex ideas, concepts, and theories

+ Utilize advanced experimental design methodologies, with significant complexity, and execute test protocols and reports to facilitate the design of medical devices

+ Analyze data using advanced statistical techniques and communicate results to a cross-functional team

+ Collaborate with people inside and outside of the company, as well as identify vendors and external partners needed throughout the development process

+ Support our intellectual property portfolio through generation and support of novel ideas and product concepts


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree in Engineering required(Mechanical, Biomedical or Equivalent degree

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevantexperience, or advanced degree with 2 years of experience


**Nice to Have**


+ Understandingand experience in design, development and testing of cardiovascular catheterdelivery systems or equivalent (i.e. use of polymers, metals including NiTi,braiding/coiling, extrusion, molding, machined parts, alloy wire welding)

+ Experiencewith product concept development, customer interaction, systems engineering andvalidation of customer needs/design requirements

+ Demonstratedability to assess the feasibility of emerging technologies through research,prototyping, and pre-clinical trials

+ Workingknowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management andmedical device regulation

+ Demonstratedstrength in written and verbal communication, judgment, decision making, andcritical thinking

+ Demonstratedstrength in building strong relationships at all levels of the organization,cross-functionally, and with key people external to the organization

+ Designfor Six Sigma (DFSS) or Design, Reliability Manufacturability (DRM)certification

+ Workingknowledge of CAD (Solidworks)
