The Just Walk Out (JWO) technology team is hiring an experienced Senior Program Manage to help expand the reach and growth of our state-of-the-art Just Walk Out Solution. JWO enables shopping in retail stores with no lines and no checkout. You simply use the Amazon shopping app or a credit card to enter the store, take what you want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and leave the store. This checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the Just Walk Out Technology, which automatically detects whether products are taken or returned, and enables shoppers to grab and go from stores ranging from small airport kiosks to massive grocery stores.
Designed and custom-built by Amazonians, JWO€™s checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the same types of technologies used in self-driving cars: computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. We are looking for people who want to join an ambitious team that is responsible for large, complex innovations spanning multiple machine learning, software, hardware, and business teams. The ideal candidate is a tenured program manager, excited about innovations in retail, and can easily earn trust with business and tech operation teams.
The Senior Program Manager will own defining rollout plans for our technology solutions in JWO stores. You will be responsible for working with hardware, software, design, operations, and other teams to expand the magic of "Just Walk Out" technology. You will need to be equally at home understanding and championing the needs of your customers as you are with diving deep on operational implications of the plans you build. You must have a strong track record of successfully managing programs.
As a tenured Program Manager, you exhibit high proficiency and efficacy in core program management disciplines such as defining priorities, success metrics, presenting plans that works backwards from customers, and are comfortable driving clarity across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. A successful candidate will combine an ability to Think Big with keen attention to detail. We are looking for a passionate, data-driven decision maker that have a high degree of ownership, and are an excellent written and verbal communicator, who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.


  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Proven track record of managing programs from conception through completion of large-scale operational or projects
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to manage metrics, drive prioritization, and implement business cases
  • Ability to seamlessly work across functional and organizational boundaries, and has a reputation for influencing others and earning trust across levels and organizations
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher


  • Strong strategic aptitude; proven ability to define a winning business strategy and product roadmap and gain buy-in from stakeholders and leaders at all levels
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems independently with an exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience working in a physical retail environment
  • MBA preferred
