**A Day in the Life**


Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) team members are seasoned professionals with in-depth knowledge of the healthcare value chain, as well as breadth of experience across multiple disciplines. They are able to partner with hospital management teams to drive complex transformational change, implement innovative growth strategies, streamline patient-focused care pathways and run and optimize operations.


Working within the Procurement and Supplier Management Team, The Senior Procurement and Supplier Manager is responsible for developing and managing the key strategic sourcing relationships related to the provision of materials and services into IHS customer accounts in the MEA region.

The post holder will be responsible for all IHSs material management supplier relationships within the region, creating opportunities for both parties, including those that directly compete with Medtronic in the medical device business.


Professional Standards Leadership

Provide professional leadership, motivation and supervision of the strategic relationships both internal and external to ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to customers

Organizational planning to support the set-up of new IHS accounts across the region

As a client facing role provide a professional and informative point of contact for all issues concerning the sourcing of goods and services.

Strategic Relationship Management and Sourcing

Identify all sourcing needs (either per account or across a region) for materials and services for new accounts

New and ongoing negotiation with suppliers, including the development of strategies and tactics securing the best possible commercial propositions for IHS

Develop region wide sourcing strategies to further progress IHS efficiencies, including cost reduction initiatives and supplier partnership programs

Management of overall supplier performance and relationships

Obtain and communicate market condition and technology trend information regarding commodities and suppliers. Suggest and implement appropriate business strategy

changes. Develop technology roadmaps and corresponding supplier roadmaps where needed

Manage contracts and quality agreements with Suppliers able to negotiate the applicable terms and conditions of purchases, contracts and other aspects of relationship with Suppliers

Ensures long-term continuity of supply strategies

Work with Suppliers improvements in supplier capability such as Supplier Managed Inventory and reduced lead-times.

Managing Internal Relationships

Manage demands of cross functional stakeholders and ensure that needs are consistently met (e.g. Quality and Regulatory, on-time go-live of new accounts)

Knows how to disseminate information and provide training related to purchasing and supply management policies and procedures to other groups within Medtronic

Ensure change and issues are successfully and efficiently managed across functions

Managing Customers

Consult with customers to discuss clinical strategy and how materials management service can support departments strategic direction

Ensure evolving materials needs of customers are continuously met in a timely fashion.


University degree in business, science, and/or healthcare field

Advanced degree in Health Administration or Business Administration preferred.

Languages: English essential, whilst due to the region wide nature of role other languages would be a benefit.


Multiple years of procurement and supplier management experience, preferably in a healthcare environment or interacting with healthcare clients

Experience of managing supplier and customer relationships across a region

Management of complex strategic relationships, preferably in a healthcare setting

Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate, support and develop virtual teams

Deep experience in negotiation and creating opportunities in complex stakeholder settings

Previous experience or interaction with environments, such as Cath labs or Operating rooms

Experience of the healthcare market with good supplier base knowledge


Strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to liaise, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels

High level of sourcing and procurement acumen with good underlying commercial skills

Good level of analytical skills with the ability to scrutinise data to identify and develop sourcing strategies

Project management experience

Ability to problem solve in a complex and multi stakeholder environment


Willingness to travel within MEA (25-50%)
