Medtronic Gastrointestinal and Hepatology (GIH) provides minimally invasive diagnosis and therapy for various gastroenterological disorders. We are an internationally recognized company in GI with numerous innovative products, including Emprint soft tissue ablation, PillCam capsule endoscopy, SmartPill motility monitoring, Barrx radiofrequency ablation, the Beacon FNA/FNB platform, Bravo pH monitoring, Digitrapper pH-Z monitoring, and ManoScan high resolution manometry. Medtronics devices help physicians alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.


**A Day in The Life**


+ Maintains a deep understanding of the science behind our products.

+ Achieves expertise in the skills and clinical decision-making necessary to provide training for physicians, nurses, and Medtronic GIH personnel.

+ Develops familiarity with alternative technologies that are used in the same space.

+ Supports ongoing efforts to grow the body of scientific literature.

+ Interacts cross-functionally at various levels, including executive leadership, on significant matters. Conducts briefings with senior leaders within the job function. Interacts with others to achieve understanding and agreement.

+ Drives education and outreach for safe and effective use of our products.

+ Develops, implements and oversees integrated evidence-based medical affairs strategic plans for relevant Medtronic divisions.

+ Contributes to large, moderately complex initiatives of strategic importance to the organization, involving large cross-functional teams.

+ Utilizes advanced subject matter expertise to provide medical input to various functions (General Management, Global Strategy Portfolio Management, Business Development Licensing, Research Development, Marketing) and organizational units to facilitate insightful decision-making and enable achievement of business objectives.

+ Serves as a medical expert for marketing support, including assisting with the development of clinical sales materials videos, and ensuring such documents are strongly evidence based.

+ Serves as a medical expert for payer medical policy advocacy efforts of the Health Economic Policy and Reimbursement team and supports HCP advocate collaboration.

+ Builds relationships with clinicians and their staff by acting as a peer resource via traveling to their institutions for in person meetings and departmental presentations.

+ Serves primary role in interactions with key opinion leaders.

+ Ensures effective and objective value propositions are developed and articulated for Medtronic technologies to stakeholders (patients, health care providers, payers, government agencies, health technology assessment organizations, public) through appropriate channels.

+ Represents Medtronic GIH at national and international meetings by participating in clinical discussions, assisting in live demonstrations and fostering education efforts in the exhibit hall.

+ Works independently, executing strategies with limited supervision.

+ Thrives in a position involving the management of complex projects and significant interdepartmental collaboration.

+ Provides strong leadership for teams on numerous medical affairs related projects.

+ Communicates effectively with other departments and leadership within GIH.

+ Strategically influences the design of new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on functional results. Implements strategic goals established by functional leadership.

+ Works closely with Clinical Affairs on the design and implementation of clinical protocols and approves final reports.

+ Works closely with RD and Regulatory Affairs to review and approve device risk file documentation and provides medical expertise during interactions with regulatory bodies.

+ Licensed MD/DO may also function as Medical Safety Officer for GIH, signing-off on product safety reviews, and providing primary assessment, evaluation and follow-up for all serious adverse events and other patient safety related issues.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ MD or DO Degree and relevant clinical practice experience.

+ Travel is required, ranging 33% to 50% of the time, primarily domestic, but may include international.


**Nice to Have**


+ Active license to practice medicine in good standing.

+ Board certification in area of expertise.

+ Significant clinical practice experience.

+ Experienced in clinical trial design and implementation.

+ Deep knowledge of project management.

+ Comfortable presenting in front of large groups.
