**A Day in the Life**

This position is a newly designed and integral role to the continued growth and success of Medtronics Strategic Meetings Management (SMM) Program which creates efficiencies, mitigates risk and leverages spend across the organization for Medtronic sponsored group meetings and events. This important member of the Corporate Operations Global Travel and Meetings Team will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, systems savvy, people person that works well in a fast-paced role, with varied day-to-day activities requiring a broad skill-set including cross-border communications, training, analytics/systems, and relationship management. A background in event management and knowledge of the Cvent event management platform is preferred.


Provides project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity teams.

Facilitates these teams in the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize Medtronic's position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost.

Mitigates risk, leverages technology and purchase power, improves processes and systems, and reduces overall cost of ownership and acquisition.

Negotiates, establishes and monitors supplier agreements.

**A Day in the Life**

Assist in selection, implementation and ongoing relationship management of preferred enterprise Meetings Event (ME) suppliers

Develop or renew strategic MSAs with preferred suppliers

Manage sourcing analytics and policy audits to optimize sourcing activity and drive savings for Medtronic

Manage rebate audits and reclamation processes

Configure and maintain supplier network configuration in Cvent event management tool to best comply with MDT policies and cost savings efforts (ex: estimators, competitor lists, NSO/GSO contacts, preferred category tags)

Develop small meetings strategy and implement solution set to support meeting planners

Create, coordinate and deliver ongoing awareness and education to increase compliance with Meeting Policy, while driving uptake to improve adoption rates and decrease time to proficiency, ultimately resulting in cost efficiency and savings

Act as resource for planners to handle questions and informational requests around Meeting Policy and standardized sourcing procedure, as well as tie-in policies (Travel, BCS, Cross-Border guidelines, Print, etc.), hotel contract negotiations, negotiated cost avoidance capture, preferred supplier usage, as well as SMM tools and processes

Create, coordinate and deliver onboarding, refresher and system enhancement instruction for Medtronics event management tool, Cvent

Assist with ongoing program evaluation and process improvement to drive uptake and improve user skillset including tool usage, work cycle efficiencies and smart spend best practices Handle program issue escalation by executing a solution using own initiative or recommending best alternative to manager or other stakeholders

Interact with business partners (meeting planners, compliance, legal, risk management, travel, card operations) on a frequent basis

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

**Nice to Have**

Strong experience with meetings management or sourcing with Meeting and Event (ME) space

CMP or CMM designation

Cvent Certified or experience with Cvent event management tool

Understanding of meeting management and meeting related business processes within Life Science industry

Strong communication skills, including ability to collaborate with other departments such as IT, Procurement, Travel and other core stakeholders

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail necessary for data management and documentation

Technology proficient, understands the use of web-based applications and general understanding of database concepts for reporting purposes

Project management experience

Training experience

Implementation experience

Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Webex experience

Strong relationship management or customer service experience
