Primary Job Function

Serves as a division talent and organization consulting leader.  Plans, executes and delivers talent and organization strategies and interventions for the clients including:

  • Developing division talent and organization strategy to support the execution of business strategy and the unique business needs of the divisions. 
  • Determining how talent and organization solutions are used to achieve long-term business success and add value to meet organizational needs.
  • Analyzing, designing and delivering a range of talent and organization solutions, and designing and implementing performance improvement interventions to meet employee and organizational needs.

    Core Job Responsibilities

    • Works with division business and HR leaders to assess, diagnose, plan and implement strategic talent and organization solutions to support business strategy.
    • Partners with Business Human Resources and business leaders to provide talent & organization support to achieve the business objectives.
    • Measures and reports the impact of talent and organization interventions using evaluation, metrics, focus groups and performance results.
    • Uses Business Human Resources and business input to develop the annual Talent Development plan.
    • Provides consulting support to Business Human Resources and/or key customers and stakeholders on executing key talent and organization strategies. The key stakeholders/internal clients are the senior leadership team and HR business partners for the Medical Devices line of business.
    • Acts as true critical-thinking, solution-offering consultant to our organization, a complex multinational corporation.
    • Proactively works with Talent Development partners to design and implement talent and organization plans. This may include organization/team effectiveness, leadership development and change management.
    • May lead or participate in talent management-related activities such as division talent management review preparation and facilitation and Talent Management System support
    • May facilitate leadership team meetings, partner with HR to design interventions for the entire line of business, participate in enterprise-wide Talent Development/HR initiatives.
    • Participate in enterprise wide strategic Talent Development/HR initiatives
    • Estimated 20% travel across US and international Abbott locations

      Position Accountability / Scope

      Reports to the Medical Devices lead consultant and will work directly and independently with BHR DVPs and Directors.   Interacts and partners with:

      • Business leaders including:  General Managers, corporate officers, Division Vice Presidents, other leaders
      • HR including:  BHR Division Vice Presidents, Regional/Affiliate Business Human Resources and Human Resources Directors
      • Talent and Organization Consulting colleagues and Talent Development practice center colleagues

        Minimum Education

        Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in L&D, OD or related field preferred

        Minimum Experience / Training Required

        • 10 years of progressive learning and development experience in a variety of disciplines including OD, consulting, org design, training, leadership development, talent management, performance management and change management. 
        • Experience working in large, complex global organizations.
        • Experience in large professional services consulting preferred.
        • Proven success in collaborative leadership and working with executive leaders and internal HR partners
        • Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and effectively manage multiple complex projects concurrently within a fast-paced environment
