Senior Failure Investigation Scientist

  • Plan, execute, and document analytical and clinical studies
  • Analyze data and prepare graphs and tables to be incorporated into reports
  • Perform first level troubleshooting and document findings
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in brainstorming, risk management, and other critical activities
  • Support evaluation of potential mitigations and corrective actions
  • Support product improvement/reliability projects
  • Contribute to final report for each project


    • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time


      Education and Experience (in years): 

      • Bachelor€™s degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience OR
      • Master€™s degree in field with 3+ years of related work experience OR
      • Doctoral degree in field with 0-2 years of related work experience.

        Knowledge and skills: 

        • Experience in a biological laboratory setting, attention to detail to assure proper preparation of test materials, and computer experience for data analysis
        • Experience and understanding of real-time multiplex PCR
        • Understanding of molecular biology products or molecular diagnostic product utilizing nucleic acid amplification tests, including system level experience with reagents, consumable, and instrument components
        • Plan, execute, and document analytical and clinical studies which may include, but not limited to Limits of Detection, Linearity, Reproducibility, etc.
        • Familiarity with clinical sample techniques and handling
        • Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other tools for data presentation and analysis is a must
        • Excellent communication, writing, and documentation skills
        • Ability to successfully interact with multiple departments and drive discussion
        • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
        • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a team setting; able to work cross-functionally to provide effective updates at executive level
        • Experience with statistical analysis and data management for large volume complex data sets
        • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or within manufacturing operations under cGMP, ISO, and FDA regulations.

          Physical requirements/abilities: 

          • Ability to work in an office and laboratory environment (BSL2 setting)
          • This role requires the associate is hands-on in the laboratory, including the use of hazardous chemicals and potentially infectious clinical specimens
          • Pipetting small volumes
          • Sitting or standing at a lab bench
          • Operation of machinery
          • Occasional lifting


            • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in R&D setting
            • Bachelor€™s degree in Biological Science or equivalent experience
            • Experience with real-time multiplex PCR
            • Experience with handling of viruses and bacteria
            • Experience with microfluidics
            • Experience with automating data retrieval from text files, databases, and spreadsheets.
            • Experience with Minitab and JMP analysis software
            • Experience in clean room or biosafety environment with controlled gowning procedures
            • Experience working in a regulated (ISO-13485) industry
            • Experience with Agile Product Lifecycle or similar PLM systems
            • Experience working with and running Cepheid products
