How You Will Make An Impact:

The Data Science Senior Program Manager will lead the IT elements of the Data Science program, ensuring consistent delivery to meet Marketing and DTO expectations. The role will have overall management responsibility for the Data Science Scrum teams and will involve close liaison with the Marketing product managers and product owners to ensure the program meets their roadmap requirements and quality expectations. The role will also be responsible for managing the financial aspects of the project and routinely reporting out on its financial status. As the Data Science program is an enduring and growing program, scaling the delivery will be vitally important and a critical element of the role will be to efficiently onboard other divisions into the program to fuel its growth.

What You Will Do?

  • Manage the portfolio of projects within the Data Science program
  • Provide on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to the their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one or more major initiatives concurrently
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of the DTO strategic objectives
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project within an Agile context
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources
  • Manages the Data Science Scrum teams
  • Monitors staff performance and contributes to performance reviews
  • Facilitate the larger multiple Scrum team ceremonies such as PI/quarterly planning. sprint planning, sprint demos and retrospectives regular planning meetings
  • Provide status reporting regarding milestone, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • In conjunction with the product managers and product owners, manage the Data Science backlog and any scope changes
  • Coach the Data Science teams on how to maximize the efficiency and output quality of the Agile/Scrum teams
  • Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposal for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the program. Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
  • Develop and manage all aspects of program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
  • Set and continually manage program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
  • Mange the program finances ensuring the program proceeds according to budget
  • Manage program issues and risks to mitigate impact to the baseline
  • Other duties as assigned

How Will You get There?
  • BSC in computer science, applied statistics, data science, or data analytics
  • Excellent experience in SDLC Methodologies, Agile, SCRUM, SDLC / Waterfall
  • Certified and current PMP and CSM
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of program management experience and 10+ years of project management experience
  • 4+ years of successfully managing large programs with multiple Agile/Scrum teams
  • 4+ years experience leading Data Science projects
  • Strong understanding of Data Science techniques in statistical analysis and data modeling
  • Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
  • Tools: MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Microfocus/HP PPM; JIRA
  • Experience in successfully leading large enterprise programs to on-time, on-schedule, and within budget
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral, with technical and non-technical staff, and all levels of management
  • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from executive sponsors, team members, stakeholders and peers
  • Flexible, with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts
  • Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff
  • Interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate and enhance performance within a cross-functional environment
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
