Job Description

As the Secure Performance Lead you would collaborate with PnP (Power and Performance) and Security Research teams to develop our organization's Secure Performance Strategy and lead its execution, anchored in, and aligned with Intel's Security First initiatives. This role also entails providing technical support and guidance to the Secure Performance aspects of PRT (Problem Response Team) no-harm PnP validation efforts, such as, PnP Characterization and Volume Validation efforts for current and upcoming Secure Performance PRTs. Duties associated with this position include:
- Technical innovation in Secure Performance PnP Space:. Working with the PRT Tech Team to understand PnP implications of security mitigations in uCode, OS, and potentially hardware.
- DOE for Secure Performance related studies, including exploratory work.
- Develop PnP methodologies to identify, characterize and innovate around mitigating potential security vulnerability signatures correlating to Power and Performance.
- Ownership of PnP Quality for Secure Performance Mitigations.
- Designing and reviewing characterization and volume validation test plans, the results of which will be used to evaluate readiness for public patch release..
- Work with PnP engineers to understand, execute and track characterization and volume validation test plans with a level of detail sufficient to evaluate readiness for public patch release.
- Review benchmark data and provide guidance including approval for public patch release from PnP perspective, and the design of follow-up experiments, mitigations, or recommendations as needed.

The candidate would step immediately into an exciting world with these and other challenges:
- Expected rapid and self-starting ramp, with minimal passdown available from predecessors.
- Active involvement in validation of current mitigations. This includes managing work carried out by different teams in across Intel.
- Active involvement in technical discussions of upcoming mitigation efforts and planning for future validation.
- Active involvement in response to customer issues, including DOE and replication of issues seen in the field.
- Active participation in program management forums.
- Development of technical skills for this work in others, either as a part of Intel's growing competence in Secure Performance. This may include travel, up to quarterly, to Costa Rica.

Responsible for secure design, development and operation of Intel's hardware and software products and services. Responsibilities may include threat assessments, design of security components, and vulnerability assessment. Ensures products conform to standards and specifications. Develops plans and cost estimates and assesses projects to analyze risks. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education, judgment and formal processes. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art security principles, theories, attacks and contributes to literature and conferences. May participate in development of intellectual property. Requires thorough knowledge of security practices, procedures and capabilities in order to perform non-repetitive, analytical work.

Additionally, this position requires strong project engineering skills, including the ability to clearly communicate task breakdowns, track progress against plan, communicate roadblocks and negotiate mitigations. The person should work well in an ambiguous environment, may need to assertively promote his or her job priorities, and will need to negotiate scope and technical risk to meet deadlines. This work includes aggressive and non-negotiable deadlines and handling highly sensitive, confidential information.


Required Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science with 5+ years' experience in the following:

- Technical knowledge in PnP (Power and Performance)
- Experience with Power and Performance analysis tools
- Familiarity with industry benchmarks, which aspects of performance they measure and how, as well as how they are perceived in the public domain

- Knowledge of industry SoC security features and processes
- Strong understanding of HW/SW security

Preferred qualifications:

- An understanding of architecture and microcode sufficient to understand potential PnP impacts of changes

- Familiarity with Intel's security features and processes

- Interest in expanding the depth and breadth of security technologies
