Ensures that health information is maintained in accordance with established NYU Medical Center policies and procedures, The Joint Commission standards, and regional, state and federal guidelines.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EJob Responsibilities:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms other duties as assigned.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAnswers telephone calls promptly and in a polite manner, identifying themselves and the department. Takes messages thoroughly and accurately. Transfers calls to the correct individual based on content of inquiry.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms quality review post scanning and indexing. Ensures that all pages were scanned successfully, and all scanned images are high quality and are assigned to the correct patient and account number.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms indexing. Ensures that scanned documents are indexed to the correct account number and document type.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EScans paper records on hospital units.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms scanning of paper records. Verifies the quality and accuracy of the scanned images. Insures that all pages are captured. Identifies any scanning errors and re-scans records as necessary.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EPerforms prepping of paper medical record documents. Checks each document for proper identification (patients name, medical record number and account number). Correctly identifies the portion of medical records to be scanned.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEnsures receipt of all records and documents in accordance with departmental policies. Accurately reconciles received records. Follows up in a timely manner for missing records..\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ERetrieves medical records from clinical areas. Delivers medical records to appropriate location. Transports medical records in a timely fashion. Safeguards medical records during transport to ensure confidentiality and integrity.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMaintains paper records and microfiche file areas. Files and retrieves medical records in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Maintains all records in a well-organized manner, retrieves records from files as requested and in a timely manner. Obtains medical records from electronic system when applicable.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMinimum Qualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003ETo qualify you must have a High School Diploma.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EExcellent organizational, interpersonal and verbal and written communications skills and strong customer service orientation required.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EBasic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and Internet applications required.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ELight, accurate keyboarding skills required.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAbility to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPreferred Qualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EKnowledge of medical terminology with at least 2 years of experience in health information management.
