Residential Mortgage Analyst

This position, within Residential Finance and located on the Citi Trading Floor, offers a great learning opportunity in providing support to Whole Loan Traders and Residential Finance Bankers.  The Residential Finance business is responsible for sponsoring and underwriting residential mortgage backed securitizations, working with traders on whole loan sales, acquisitions and brokerage, and providing warehouse financing of mortgage loan pools to clients. Areas of responsibility include:

Diligence (Securitizations, Whole Loan Trading, & Warehouse Lending):

  • Assist bankers with review of compliance diligence results, data integrity reconciliations, and collateral document reconciliations.
  • Review servicing comments reports, BPO reports, title and lien reports, and payment history reports to identify potential issues.
  • Reconcile servicing and diligence data
  • Consolidate diligence results at loan level, and categorize and prioritize findings.
  • Work with counterparties to resolve collateral and title issues.
  • Track and report on loans where collateral documents have been released on bailee.
  • Perform similar actions for the preparation of the pool for loan sale, securitization, or underwriting.

Mortgage whole loan brokerage:

  • Work with legal on offering documents.
  • Manage data rooms for offering.
  • Coordinate due diligence and final offering population.
  • Facilitate trade execution and post-closing work.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Manage data rooms for whole loan trades and securitizations, including working with servicers and sellers to get servicing data, working with diligence providers to get diligence data, and uploading communications with ratings agencies to the 17g-5 site.
  • Work with counterparties and legal to facilitate the negotiation and execution of confidentiality agreements and contracts.
  • Monitor servicing transfers for whole loan buys & sales, and track and sell mortgage servicing rights.
  • Manage loan inventory, including collateral document repair, and working with legal to help resolve loan level litigation.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including working with Procurement on contract negotiations and managing vendor risk.
  • Coordinate Monthly Mortgage and Securitization Data  Updates to PRISM.
  • Work with Legal in preparing responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Legal vehicle administration and reporting.
  • Regulatory reporting.


  • Degree in business, engineering or related
  • 2 - 4 years experience in capital markets
  • Prior experience in mortgages is a plus
  • Very strong MS Excel
