Job Summary

The PM/CM Transportation Consulting Services Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented heavy civil Resident Engineer - Transportation/Rail for immediate employment within the greater Los Angeles, CA area.

AECOM is proud to provide our employees with an exciting, challenging project. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Lead overall construction management for large scale heavy rail/commuter rail projects.

  • Act as Resident Engineer overseeing the activities of Assistant Resident Engineer, Office Engineers, Assistant Office Engineers, Lead Inspectors, Construction Inspectors, and Administrative/Project personnel. Monitor contractors work for compliance to schedule, Budget, Technical Specifications, and Legal Requirements.

  • Resolve design and field construction problems with a contractor in coordination with a clients design services support team. Lead progress meetings and reports on project status.

  • Expedite approved design and field changes.

  • Provide written responses to the contractor as part of an integrated project team with senior client managers.

  • Review contractor requests for change and, when appropriate, prepare contract change orders/modifications. Lead negotiations and processing of change orders.

  • Communicate and implement safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of clients s safety vision and goals to contractors and subordinate personnel.

  • Communicate effectively with client and other project stakeholders.

  • Plan, implement, and manage management processes within the project requirements.

  • Be able to analyze a project schedule and provide insight on project issues and possible solutions.

  • Actively participate in business development and RFP process.

  • Effectively manage project staff and subcontractors.

  • Implement and oversee AECOM safety policies on the project level.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS plus 10 years of relevant experience OR AA/AS plus 12 years of relevant experience; all including 2 years of leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field plus at least fifteen (15) years of experience in Heavy Civil Construction with ten (10) years in the construction of Rail Projects in urban areas.

  • Successful experience as Resident Engineer on rail projects of at least $50M.

  • California PE License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.

  • Cal-OSHA/OSHA 10 training certification at the start of work.

  • Registration as a Certified Construction Manager.

  • Experience with FTA, SCRRA, NCTD, BNSF, and UPRR.

  • Experience working within California strongly preferred.
