The Latino Center for Health has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (75%) Project Coordinator. The Latino Center for Health is housed in the School of Social Work (SSW), and works across campus to promote research for the health and well-being of Latinos through community-engaged research. This position will coordinate activities and administrative operations for the Center's Latino Physical Supply Study--a project aimed at describing and identifying current supply of Latino physicians in Washington state and to disseminate policy recommendations to increase physician supply. 

This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The candidate who fills this position will work closely with several research team members and community partners. Due to the nature of this project, this position will require experience with qualitative data analysis and familiarity with statistical analysis software. This position will require a superior talent for multi-tasking and prioritizing, to support multiple projects comprising different topic areas and activities.

This position supports the mission of the Latino Center for Health and the School of Social Work by contributing to our understanding health promotion of Latino communities in Washington state. This position is directly related to the SSW & UW objectives of education, research and community service.

Duties & Responsibilities
Research Tasks (70%):
  • Prepare and submit IRB applications and modification requests for project.
  • Draft, format, and edit research manuscripts, posters, and presentations related to project.
  • Track and coordinate all study activites including preparation of study materials, planning and coordinating team meetings, email communication with offsite partners, and preparing reports of prelimary findings.
  • Conduct qualitative data analysis (in English and Spanish): moderate focus groups; conduct interviews; manage audio files of research interviews and focus groups from transcription through coding; excerpt and code concept interviews and focus groups; analyze and synthesize findings.

    Administrative Tasks (30%):
  • Ensure that contract responsibilities are executed successfully and completed within time frames by assistant investigators and staff in moving toward completion of milestones and deliverables. Track milestones and deliverables.
  • Event coordination and management, as required.
  • Collaborate with all key partners: maintain open, timely, and accurate communication with all internal and external stakeholders about developments, changes, and/or new directions and deliverables; communicate priorities, goals, and resources.
  • Coordinate and run ongoing meetings, including center meetings and research proposal preparation/review meetings; prepare agendas using input from supervisors but also from independent judgement; track and assign actionable tasks.
  • Manage budgets for research and community engagement activities; assist with purchasing reimbursement processes.
  • Manage calendars and meeting agendas and minutes by using Outlook and Doodle polls; set up Zoom video conference and send invitations; make room reservations.
  • Manage correspondence: monitor email, respond and loop in faculty and research team as needed, prepare and submit forms and documentation using a shared drive.

    Requirements
  • BA in Social Work, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in research, health or social services administration.
  • Advanced skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience analyzing quantitative data and producing reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with budgeting and reimbursement processes.
  • Skill in balancing multiple demands simultaneously under time constraints.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in the context of collaborating with and coordinating a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills including independently managing multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail, accuracy, and quality results.

    Desired
  • Demonstrated commitment and familiarity working with Latino communities.
  • Experience developing and submitting Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposal and modification requests, and developing study materials.
  • Experience working with stakeholders in government agencies, health care agencies, and/or community organizations.
  • Experience with event planning, vendor relations, travel, and reimbursements.
  • Working knowledge of community-based organizations, health care systems, public health, and relevant agencies.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
