Works with School of Medicine and Medical Center staff and departments, including Directors, Managers, Clinical Information Systems, Research Nursing and Regulatory Services; may also interfaces with patients and their families. Assist with implementation of a novel primary care-based cluster RCT study at the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Hospital. The intervention, titled the Peer-Assisted Lifestyle (PAL), utilizes a novel goal setting tool (PAL Tool) delivered via tablet computers, combined with trained Veteran peer health coaches, team-based care, and primary care physicians to encourage goal-setting and weight management.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EJob Responsibilities:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003ELiaisons with monitors during site visits, providing them with assistance specific to the monitoring visit.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDemonstrates knowledge of and follows proper clinical study processes within current policies and procedures.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EInitiates and continues regular contact with patients; encourages visit reminders and compliance to research; ensures contact with patients and their families is courteous, effective, professional and cooperative.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EEnsures that information in computer database is accurate, entered and maintained on a timely basis.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECompletes paperwork and forms in a neat, accurate, timely manner and ensure subsequent data collection as required.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EReviews any issues that deviate from standard policy and procedure with supervisor.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EUtilizes established methodologies to collect patient information for the research project(s).\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EConduct study visits, obtain and document information within the time frame specified.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDemonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is being conducted and the regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EInteract with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECollaborate with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EReview all the elements of the screening process with the Principal Investigator.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAssist with the informed consent process.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ERecruitment capabilities and the screening of potential patients/subjects for eligibility to the study.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThorough knowledge of research study, study rationale, study subject, and clinical procedures associated with the study.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EDuplicates and collates materials upon request.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ECompletes filing in accordance with department procedures.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMaintain files in an organized and up-to-date manner in order to facilitate their retrieval and maintains copies of all required on-going documentation and forms for the files.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ESecure accurate signatures and forward documents and/or forms to appropriate destination.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ERespond to requests in a timely manner, give/receive correct information, encourage required dialogue/follow-through.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ERecord, update, edit and maintain confidential information onto paperwork or web-based forms in a neat, accurate and timely manner and ensure subsequent data collection as required.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMaintain complete, accurate subject charts, case report forms, enrollment logs, and hospital records.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ETimely correction of queries.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAware of study regulatory status and keep an up to date copy of regulatory documents.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EProvide material for and/or initiate IRB correspondence.\u003C/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003ERecord IRB approved subject study reimbursements according to standard operating procedures.\u003C/li\u003E\u003C/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EAdditional Position Specific Responsibilities:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003EMust be a U.S. Military Veteran.\u003Cbr /\u003E Bright, motivated, and independent U.S. Veteran with experience or interest in health education. S/he will work closely with the primary care team and nutritionist to implement the intervention and will undergo training in Motivational Interviewing, 5As Counseling Methodology, and standards of obesity care, including prevention and treatment, to effectively counsel Veteran patients in weight loss and motivation.\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMinimum Qualifications:\u003C/strong\u003E\u003C/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr /\u003ETo qualify you must have a Associate\u0027s degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
