Do you want to be a part of groundbreaking research?** The Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute (IBIRI), a multidisciplinary basic, translational, and clinical research program devoted to Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, is searching for a passionate and motivated Research Associate II (RAII) to join the Targan Lab! Under the direction of Stephan Targan, MD, the Targan Lab seeks to define the functional relationships between genes, the environment and the immune response to translate these discoveries into a better understanding of the underlying causes of IBD and improved therapies. The RAII will be a significant addition to our team and must be driven, organized, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. As an RAII, you will perform mouse husbandry techniques including mouse colony maintenance, breeding, and genotyping, and will assist in monitoring colitis mouse models and the collection/processing of mouse tissues for further experiments. This position also helps with the maintenance of cell lines and performing gene/protein assays as required. **Primary Duties and Responsibilities:** + Performs a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures and assist in the design of new complex or unusual protocols and techniques. + Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results and assist in identifying and troubleshooting unexpected results. + Orders laboratory supplies and supports laboratory operations. + Maintains lab equipment and related records and may coordinate the use of lab equipment. + Assists in the operation of specialized equipment, as required by the area of research. + Assists in the preparation of data for publication and/or presentation at scholarly meetings. + Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures. + Orients research laboratory assistants or lower-level research associates and undergraduate student researchers on day-to-day lab operations and routine procedures. \#Jobs-Glassdoor #Jobs-Indeed #Jobs-NHCN **Educational Requirements:** + Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree in biological sciences or equivalent **Experience:** + Two (2) years of full-time, paid laboratory experience minimum + Experience in rodenthusbandry and tissue collection/processing required + Experience in flowcytometry, T-cell isolation and staining, and/or human PBMC sample processing preferred + Understanding of general research objectives + Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization + Must have superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units + Computer application experience and skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word + Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials and maintain attention to details Cedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
