The Svendsen Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Regenerative Medicine Institute is seeking a Research Associate II with an interest in the basic science of stem cells and neurodegenerative diseases! As an RAII, you will work with the PI and scientists to perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. This position assists in general laboratory activities including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies, filing and monitoring of documents, keeping accurate and detailed records of experiments and results, and assisting in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** + Transports, processes and logs samples. + Maintains computer database with relevant clinical information. + Assists new students and fellows at the laboratory. + Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures. + Histology and Microscopy - Sectioning of tissue specimens - Staining of tissue specimens to include special stains and IHC. + This position may include supervisory responsibilities. **Additional Information:** + Scheduling flexibility to include evening, weekend and holiday rotation commitment is required. + Travel may be required. **Educational Requirements:** + Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a biological science or related field **Experience:** + Minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience + Experience with cell culture and animal work is required + Experience with histology preferred + Familiarity with microscopy, immunohistochemistry and Western blotting preferred + Able to work with human tissue (stem cells) + Able to work with small or large animals + Understanding of general research objectives + Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization + Highly motivated and able to work independently + Superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units + Must possess computer skills to include but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint and Word + Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials while maintaining attention to details Cedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
