Job Posting: Cedars-Sinai Biomedical Sciences is seeking to find an RA I to join the Genomics Core. Summary of Essential Job Duties: Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate I perform a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and monitors documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes safety standards and procedures. The Research Assistant I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, and staining. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities Main Responsibilities will include:

Perform mostly bench work related to genomic experiments such as next generation sequencing, and high throughput qPCR and sample management.

Under direct supervision, conduct additional general molecular biology experiments such as RNA/DNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, RT-PCR, ligation, restriction digests, etc. which may be used for custom services, validation or testing of specific biological hypothesis or even quality control.

Operate automated fluidics systems, platforms for QC including Agilent, qubit, nanodrop, qPCR platforms including Fluidigm, ABI openarray and other genomic platforms.

Conduct basic QC analysis.

Order and maintain laboratory inventory including reagents, solutions, supplies, etc.

Edit and maintain sample and user LIMS data in a database.

Carry out daily activities of the Core as necessary.

**Qualification Requirements/Preferences:**

Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements:

A Bachelor of Sciences or Bachelor of Arts Degree in biological sciences or related field.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:



Understanding of general research objectives. Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software. Familiar with laboratory procedures and experimental protocols. Must possess computer skill to include but not limited to Excel and Word.

Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking)

Must be able to stand and walk distances over the greater portion of the assigned shift.

Move about freely in laboratory and field settings.

Perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time.

Use a computer keyboard and read a computer monitor/screen.

Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment with frequent interruptions and multiple demands.
