Maintains treatment areas and assists clinical staff with direct patient care being cognizant of age specific requirements Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in helping to restore function and in preventing disability

  1. Responsible for the general upkeep, scheduled monitoring, documented calibration, daily logging on, cleaning of, reporting the integrity of and coordination of repairs to the following equipment:  hydrocollators, cold packs, electrical stimulation machines, combo machines, ultrasound machines, paraffin wax tubs, exercise equipment including (but not limited to) bikes, treadmills, total gym, ski machine, traction machine, BAPS board, free weights, parallel bars, Balance machine, high-low tables, and supplemental equipment such as foam wedges, exercise balls and rollers, BOSU, therapeutic cane, and proprioceptive-neuromuscular facilitation adjunct equipment.
  2. Routine coordination and communication with other intra-hospital departments, contract organizations and authorities for operational needs of 14 Department Services on behalf of the Rehabilitation Director.
  3. Maintains and is the primary contact and coordinator for the Rehabilitation in-house pool.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  daily surveying, logging, reporting and correcting as needed of aquatic chemical levels; specialized ordering of and maintenance of pool chemicals, pool accessories (ex. Chair lift, modifiable currents, safety mats and shower, pool cleaning brushes), and pool exercise equipment (weights, buoyancy and resistance devices); assistance with coordination of marketing and scheduling of pool programs for patients; annual draining and pool renovations and refurbishments.
  4. Serves in all front desk capacities with privileges equitable to the other front desk staff:  greeting patients, calling referred patients, checking in procedures, modifying schedules, scanning and breaking down charts in the absence of electronic medical records, filing, restocking office supplies, assists in training and on-boarding new front desk employees, process improvement within front desk operations.
  5. Assists with departmental audits and quality assurance; serves as an assistant coordinator to the Rehabilitation Director and Service Supervisor for Joint Commission preparation and sustaining standards, performance improvement, and environmental and infection control activities.
  6. Remains flexible to practice responsibilities at both Falmouth Hospital and the satellite clinic at Bourne Health Center.
  7. Inventories therapeutic supplies and equipment; assists in requesting and stocking items.
  8. May provide hot or cold packs, place patients in whirlpools, supervise established exercise programs, gait training, mat and endurance activities under the supervision of an appropriate licensed professional.
  9. Assists with departmental statistics and quality assurance, program evaluation, and environmental and infection control activities.
  10. Assists with Emergency Procedures and Preparedness for the Rehabilitation staff.
  11. Trains new personnel as required, assists the Manager with on the job training.
  12. Must be courteous to patients, visitors and employees.
  13. Cleans and prepares treatment booths between patient use; stocks treatment areas with linens and supplies; assists patients in preparation for treatment.
  14. Attends meetings as required.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications Grade FHS5A/00099, Rehabilitation Aide I

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months experience as a rehabilitation aide, CNA or other direct patient care position.
  •  Must be able to read, write and understand English. 
  • Must become a Certified Pool Operator within 6 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course. 
  • Must demonstrate current clinical competency.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications Grade FHS6/XXXXX Rehabilitation Aide II

Must qualify as a Grade FHS5A - Rehabilitation Aide I in addition,

  • 1 year as a Rehabilitation Aide
  • Certified Pool/Spa Operator certification, Obtains and maintains pool Aquatic Program Leader certification and the National Swimming Pool Foundations
  • Aquatic Fitness Professional Certification through the Aquatic Exercise Association within 6 months of hire



Schedule Details: Position is Per Diem hours, Monday through Friday during the clinic operation hours of 0700 and 1700.
