Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO) is seeking a full-time caring, professional Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in providing excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their families. Working in homes and facilities, you will deeply impact people's daily lives. You will experience the freedom of working independently while also benefiting from having support from expert and knowledgeable team members.



Hours (full-time - 36 hours/week):

  • 3 Weekday shifts 12P-8P - serving as float for Richland, Knox, and Ashland Counties

  • Every other weekend on-call - Saturday and Sunday Evening - 8P-8A

Essential Job Duties of Registered Nurse (RN):

  • Performs scheduled home visits to assess patient needs and provide direct patient care 

  • Provides medication, diet and other instructions as ordered by the physician; communicates with the physician regarding the patients needs, reports changes in the patients condition and obtains/receives physicians orders as required

  • Educates patients and caregivers regarding patient care skills, pain management, and symptom control; provides physical, emotional and spiritual support to the patient/family

  • Assists the patient with activities of daily living and facilitates the patients efforts towards self-sufficiency and optimal comfort care

  • Collaborates with other hospice interdisciplinary team members

  • Provides appropriate pain/symptom management,  administers medicine within scope of practice and as directed; evaluates patients response to treatment/medications, and communicates as appropriate

  • Responsible for performing hospice consults and evaluating appropriateness for hospice services

  • Triages after-hours phone calls for symptom management and support; provides education over the telephone and conducts or coordinates patient visits for after-hours/on-call staff

  • Assigned duties may occur in any of the HNCO coverage areas

  • Performs all other duties as assigned


Experience and Education of Registered Nurse (RN):

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)

  • One to two years recent hospice care, home care, med/surg, and/or acute care experience, preferred

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio

  • CHPN certification, preferred

  • Current BLS certification

  • Valid Ohio drivers license with current automobile insurance

  • Reliable transportation accessible for travel while on HNCO business
