Our LUNG PRE-TRANSPLANT NURSE COORDINATORS are health care professionals responsible for the continuum of care experienced by the transplant patient at University of Washington Medical Center.  The role primarily focuses on the duties related to the pre-transplantation phase and will include donor procurement call.  Management for a designated transplant patient population includes independent patient assessment, triage, education, coordination of medical and nursing care, and documentation of care, from referral through transplant phases of care. This role may include post-transplant coverage, based on team needs.  Integral to the role is an understanding of the regulations and data requirements surrounding transplant care issued from the United Network of Organ Sharing and HRSA.

Our Lung Transplant service is one of the largest programs in North America.  We provide lung transplant care for the entire Pacific Northwest.  We are proud to provide this uniquely specialized care to patients in this region.  Through the dedicated work of our team, patient survival and quality of life are superior.  The Nurse Coordinators play a key role in this team effort.

As a teaching hospital and research center, we're deeply committed to the enhancement of care for our patients-as well as the professional growth of our staff. As a testament to this commitment, we're proud to be recognized with Magnet Hospital status by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  In fact, we were the first hospital to receive this designation, and we continue to be the only hospital in the region with such status.  We're also consistently named one of the nation's best hospitals, as reported by U.S. News and World Report.

Such national recognition attests to our commitment to high-quality care, and to the outstanding professionalism and skill that exists at UWMC.  As a registered nurse (RN), you can be a part of this highly skilled team, working within a culture that is both innovative and collaborative.  Here, you will work in tandem with physicians and other health care practitioners to provide superior, award-winning nursing care.  In short, you will not only follow best practice, you will create it!

As a Magnet recognized organization, the University of Washington Medical Center recognizes the contribution of nursing to high quality patient care, values professional nursing practice, promotes ongoing development of nursing staff, encourages autonomy and innovation, and supports interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position is 80-100% days, Monday - Friday, with some call.  Requires Washington State RN license and at least 2 years ICU nursing experience; BSN and transplant experience preferred.

Committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff, the University of Washington will honor your experiences, perspectives and unique identity. Together, our community strives to create and maintain working and learning environments that are inclusive, equitable and welcoming.

The University of Washington is a leader in environmental stewardship & sustainability, and committed to becoming climate neutral.
