Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Medical Surgical Hematology/Oncology w/Bone Marrow Transplant has an exciting position available for a Registered Nurse. The Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program operates within a continuum of levels of acute and chronic care services tightly coordinated with the patients primary care and specialty care physicians in the community. Adult Hematology/Oncology/BMT inpatient services are provided in a 32 bed unit located on the 4thFloor (west end) of the South Tower of the Medical Center (4SW). This includes 32 beds with 12 positive pressure rooms that are designated for the treatment of autologous and allogeneic stem cells, bone marrow transplant, and umbilical cord blood transplant patients. The average daily census is 31. An interdisciplinary approach to care is provided throughout the continuum of the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Program services: On the adult Hematology/Oncology/BMT Inpatient Unit (4SW) patients receive collaborative care with a special focus on patient/caregiver education regarding cancer disease processes, medications, pain management, self care, nutrition, central line care, and outpatient follow-up care. Staff on 4SW provides specialized procedures including chemotherapy/high-dose chemotherapy administration and monitoring, pain management and patient controlled analgesia, metabolic support, stem cell, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood infusions, patient and caregiver education and support, and hospice/Palliative care. Patients in the Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplantation Services are assigned to BMT Coordinators to organize the comprehensive screenings, pre-procedure preparation and education and an intensive and multidisciplinary care protocol before, during, and after their procedure. Summary of Essential Job Duties: Registered Nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Registered Nurse makes clinical judgments and carries out related nursing interventions using the nursing process without supervision. Applies clinical knowledge regarding standard pattern of care to consolidate interventions for time and cost savings. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making delegation of tasks, documentation. Coordinates care for the patient and delivery team. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectation of patients and health care colleagues. EEO / AA / F / M / Veteran / Disabled All External hires must successfully pass background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical. \#LI-Nursing Educational, License, Certification and Other Requirements: + B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing is preferred. + Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California. + Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association. + Specialty Certification is preferred (OCN, Palliative Care, Pain Management), ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy or ONS Certification required or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. + Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist. + Full command (written and verbal) of the English Language. + Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Experience: + Minimum of 3 year experience e as RN in acute care setting preferably in specialty. NOTE: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II) + Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice. + Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. + Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse assigned level. Physical Demands: Full body motion Full sensory response (vision, speech, hearing, smell, touch) Manual finger dexterity and fine motor skills with eye-hand coordination Frequent standing, walking, twisting (trunk, neck), bending (waist), flexing/extending/stretching (extremities and trunk) Occasional sitting, gripping/grasping, reaching below shoulder level, reaching above shoulder level, kneeling, squatting Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull at least 100 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds
