The College of Built Environments has an outstanding opportunity for a Recruitment and Student Success Specialist. Under the guidance of the College of Built Environments (CBE) Associate Dean for Students, the CBE Recruitment and Student Success Specialist is responsible for the development and overall implementation of a wide range of recruitment and student success efforts aimed at helping the college and its five departments attract and retain a growing and diverse graduate and undergraduate student body The College of Built Environments is home to over 100 active researchers, six research labs and four research centers across our five departments - Architecture; Construction Management; Landscape Architecture; Real Estate; and Urban Design and Planning. The College of Built Environments (CBE) values traditions of design and community building by positively advancing social and technological change. Under the guidance of the College of Built Environments (CBE) Associate Dean for Students, the CBE Recruitment and Student Success Specialist is responsible for the development and overall implementation of a wide range of recruitment and student success efforts aimed at helping the college and its five departments attract and retain a growing and diverse graduate and undergraduate student body. This position will serve as the colleges outreach strategist, working in support of departments to develop pathways that increase access for a diverse population of applicants to the College of Built Environments undergraduate, professional, and online degree programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Real Estate, and Urban Design and Planning. Additionally, this position will develop and lead the colleges student success programming, including the Summer Aspire program and the newly proposed Aspire Fellows leadership programs. The Recruitment and Student Success Specialist will also manage recruitment and student success data and report annually to the college community. The position is part of the CBE Office of Student Services, but will also work closely with the Colleges outstanding staff of graduate and undergraduate advisers and program leads. The position requires someone who is skillful in supporting and communicating with a diverse array of people, including students, faculty, staff, University colleagues, external firms and built environment professionals. The successful candidate will be able to work closely and collaboratively with the Student Services team while also working independently leading initiatives and projects with a high degree of autonomy. The position requires strategic thinking, a problem-solving orientation, the ability to track and advance multiple projects simultaneously, and a deep commitment to equity, excellence, and service. The Recruitment and Student Success Specialist will be expected to build and maintain networks across the UW and with a wide variety of professional and educational partners. The position may require some off-site travel to local colleges and partner institutions and firms. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Student Success In collaboration with departments and college leadership, help develop and implement a student success strategic vision and plan for the College of Built Environments. This will include identify needs and opportunities to support student success, developing additional programing, policies, or processes to better support a growing and diverse population of students, and measuring the outcomes of these efforts. Direct the CBE Summer Aspire Program. As the leader of this program, this position will be responsible for planning and managing this successful 8-week CBE summer program in leadership and professional development with a focus on housing and equity. Duties will include working with local partners in Real Estate, Architecture, and other related professions to plan and deliver the curriculum, manage program budget, recruit and enroll students, provide program logistics and administrative support, and assess program outcomes. Direct the CBE Aspire Fellows Program. This is a newly envisioned 9 month (academic year) program aimed at pre-major students interested in the built environments and designed to provide academic and professional mentoring, leadership training, and a supportive learning community for a diverse student body. As the leader of this program, this position will include refining and developing the programs strategic vision, recruiting and training faculty and professional partners, recruiting students, developing and delivering events and curricula, and assessing program outcomes. Provide student success expertise to departments and other college entities. Collect and manage college-wide data on recruitment and student success, and provide an annual update to the college community. Outreach & Recruitment In collaboration with departments and college leadership, help develop an outreach and recruitment strategic vision and plan for CBE. This will include assessing current college outreach and recruitment needs and opportunities, developing and implementing new recruitment methods and pathways for nontraditional students into CBEs undergraduate and graduate programs, and measuring the outcomes of these efforts. Direct and oversee communications and marketing strategies for college outreach and recruitment efforts, including overseeing the development of print and electronic recruitment materials, including web-based communications. Coordinate college-level recruitment activities, including in-person and online open houses and tours; facilitate the coordination of cross-department outreach and recruitment activities. Coordinate college participation in UW and regional outreach and recruitment activities, including Admitted Student Preview Days, and local recruitment fairs. Foster close relationships with on-campus strategic partners, including First Year Programs (FYP), UW Central advising, the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMAD), Ethnic Cultural Center (ECC), Intellectual House/Tribal Liaison, The Q Center, Student Veteran Life, the Graduate School, the Graduate Student Equity and Excellence Office (GSEE), the Office of Admissions, and other relevant offices. Build and foster relationships locally with community colleges and high schools, as well as nationally with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPSIs), and other partner institutions. Additional Duties (10%) Engages in professional development and maintains awareness of best practices within the recruitment and student success profession. Helps support other events and activities that further the mission the CBE Student Services team. REQUIREMENTS Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
