**Summary:**



Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.







**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.













Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.









Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.









Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.









Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.Assist in training students and/or new staff.Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner.Provides services in a prompt manner at times convenient for the customers.Understands and practices patient confidentiality.Displays a professional appearance.Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for school-aged through gerontological patients.Is supportive of the mission, vision and goals of SVH in attitude and action.Contributes to a team atmosphere by demonstrating excellent communication skills, taking initiative to perform needed tasks, and being flexible to go beyond normal expectations to meet the needs of others **.** Willingly accepts various work assignments. **Hospital (HSD) specific responsibilit** Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.easures and mixes barium and contrast mediaOperates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at pati



**Clinic (MSD) specific responsibilities:** Phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting nursing staff with rooming patients, cleaning exam rooms, answering phones, and checking in patients.



**Womens Center Bone Density specific responsibilities:** Performs, analyzes bone density testing utilizing dual energy x-ray absorptiometry equipment.



**Qualifications:**



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. **Education/Experience:**



Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school required. Two years experience in hospital/clinic is highly desirable.







**Certificates and Licenses:**



Meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT. Passage of ARRT(R) is required within 12 months of employment to maintain position. Must have current Kansas license within 60 days of hire, or within 60 days of obtaining ARRT registry. Current CPR Certification.
