Kelly Services is seeking an R & D Engineer   for our well-known client in the Medical Device Industry in Cordova TN. The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years engineering experience with medical devices. Preferred background in quality, R&D development engineering, or remediation efforts with demonstrated experience in managing projects independently. This is a 9-month contract opportunity.

Job Description


Develops concepts, designs and prototypes of devices that require a moderate to high degree of technical expertise.
Supports project/product development tasks with work including any of the following: Writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, designing fixtures, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating products, equipment and processes.
Performs and oversees test protocols, product tests, and pre-clinical evaluation of product.
Performs design and failure analyses, material research and reliability studies.
Perform product documentation, preliminary product specifications, process development/research and test data analysis.
Ability to write Test Validation Protocols and Reports.
Ability to write Product Validation Protocols and Reports.
Interfaces with other departments.
Directly or indirectly supervises assemblers, technicians, and engineers providing guidance in prototype assembly, concept development and performance evaluations.
Fundamental understanding and implementation of Design Control, GMPs and ISO standards.

What you need
A Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related engineering discipline is required for this role.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:

The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience with labelling and packaging requirements in the medical device industry.
Preferred background in new product development for packaging or remediation of packaging elements.
Professional experience with manufacturing processes for cleaning, sterile packaging and sterilization is required
Experience in supplier process development is highly preferred
Must be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and have working knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience in executing complex problem-solving techniques related to technical manufacturing and design issues
Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing
Proven ability to effectively work in a fast paced, dynamic and results oriented team environment
Excellent Interpersonal Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
