Department: Quality Control

Reports To:  CEO


Plans, coordinates, implements and directs the quality program designed to ensure products are compliant with established standards.  Responsible for all hazardous waste, storm water and environmental concerns for the facility and the Company.


Thorough knowledge of metal fabrication application, quality assurance and manufacturing methods and techniques.

Excellent technical skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.

Ability to use individual judgment to determine whether processes comply with laws, regulations and standards.

Ability to uphold and enforce the highest ethical, safety and environmental standards.

Ability to travel both domestic and international.

Ability to supervise, develop and coach direct reports and other personnel.


Reviews, audits and monitors of the quality control functions of the Company.

Under general direction of the CEO, write various procedures governing welding, manufacturing application, inspection, quality assurance and in-house operating policies. 

Trains and/or assists inspection personnel in routine examinations of suppliers products both upon receiving or at off-site locations, work in process, and finished products to ensure compliance to established standards. 

Regularly review operating standards, conduct inspection audits, and determine supplier/vendor performance. 

Obtains necessary training to comply with federal and state regulations and to maintain proficiency in job functions.

Trains required personnel as appropriate in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.  Maintains training records.

Advises or recommends changes to methods or processes to improve outgoing product quality.

Maintains, reviews and revises QC manual as required. .

Maintains ASME certification or likely quality certifications as appropriate.

Maintains quality and associated records.

Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Hosts on-site customer inspections.

Functions in workplace of dignity and respect for all.

Functions as a team member and to get along with others.

Honors EEO guidelines and principles.

Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.

Performs other similar or related duties as directed, assigned or as necessary to accomplish the departments objectives in an effective manner.


Accountable for all concerns within their scope of work and has the absolute responsibility to remedy, report and/or communicate any issue to managers, supervisors, safety or environmental managers as appropriate.

Follows all safe work practices, watches out for fellow workers, and keeps their work area clean.

Ensures area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.

The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility or customers facilities:

Company approved safety glasses or goggles

Company approved steel ESD toe shoes.

Appropriate hand protection.

Ear protection in designated areas.

Appropriate clothing.

Other safety equipment as required.


Directly supervises one or more employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree from a four year college andr three to five years of related experience and training; or ten years of equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of metal fabrication application, the knowledge of quality assurance and manufacturing methods and techniques. Must be qualifiable for NDT testing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS: Competent in basic personal computing skills word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

EQUIPMENT: Micrometer (dial or vernier), caliper, height gauge, surface plate, angle plate, V-blocks, job locks, dial indicator, thread micrometer, tachometer, paint thickness gauge, ultrasonic thickness gauge, pressure gauge, electronic multi-meter, computer.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: ASQ Certified Quality Technician or equivalent knowledge level.  AWS QC-1 CWI or ASNT SNT-TC-1A NDE Examiner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration and risk of electrical shock.

The employee is regularly exposed to cold or hot, humid conditions.

The noise level in the manufacturing work environment is usually loud and may require the employee to wear hearing protection.

On the occasion when the employee visits a customer site the employee may be exposed to areas that require additional personal safety equipment such as hardhat, hearing protection and respiratory protection.
