This is a TEMPORARY, FULL-TIME PROJECT position for nine months.

The College of Education’s Unite:Ed program has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Project Manager.

Reporting to the Director, the Unite:Ed Project Manager will serve as a key thought-partner and provide leadership support to Unite:Ed in early relationship-building, partner acquisition and start-up funding efforts during the planning and implementation phase of the initiative.

In support of this effort the Project Manager duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Project Management: Manage and oversee multiple project planning activities with UW and non-UW faculty, community partners and others to include reviewing and recommending adjustments to the project's plans and organizational structure to ensure adherence to foundation and/or federal sponsors scientific, budgetary, human subjects, and operational requirements and expectations.  This position will be responsible for setting the timelines governing the status of project administration and submissions and organize the teams in conjunction with sponsor reporting requirements and deadlines.

Programmatic Support: Manage and provide collaborative leadership support to Unite:Ed’s key initiative to build and sustain a collaborative network of community-led research-practice partnerships. Assist the Director in managing the internal network of College of Education faculty, staff, and students whose work/projects fit within Unite:Ed’s mission, and the external network of community and district partners. Support the Director in their advancement/fundraising responsibilities in partnership with the Dean and College’s Advancement Team to support Unite:Ed projects and infrastructure. Support the Director in managing initiatives that are launched under the Unite:Ed umbrella, to include providing assistance to grant awarded community-based organizations. Represent the Director to internal and external audiences as needed.

Operations Support: Manage and oversee the development of informational mechanisms regarding the program project activity including websites, press releases, newsletter articles. etc. These activities will require support in the selection process of consultants and contractors, managing website content, and ensuring the information is disseminated to key stakeholders. Design and produce materials in a variety of formats including online, print, PowerPoint and graphics ensuring consistency of style, design, and learner-centered focus. Serve as the first point-of-contact for the coordination and submission of annual reports to sponsors, collaborating with fiscal and research leads at other institutions as needed. Communicate with Director and PI’s regarding UW and College policies and procedures for implementation of Unite:Ed’s goals. Assist the Director in developing network convening agendas and hosting events.

Special Projects: As the Director’s request, complete special projects having significant impact on the success of the grant.

Other duties as assigned


• Master’s degree in Education or related field to include three to five years of experience with leadership of an educational or non-profit program
• Demonstrated ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors and friends to build and maintain lifelong partnerships and trust with while aligning the donor’s passions and goals with the institution.
• A deep understanding and knowledge of the prevailing issues impacting: College Access, P-20 pipeline building, and regional economic supply-demand challenges faced by Washington State employers and post-secondary and credentialing entities.
• An ability to articulately express the challenges faced by poverty-impacted end-users of public education systems.
• An ability to articulate a common compelling vision around which University members, municipal government leaders, community organizations, and philanthropists can cohere.
• Proven leadership, communication, team building and problem solving capability.
• Excellent oral and written skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of University employees.
• Ability to work well under pressure, deadlines, and changing priorities.
• Ability to work with diverse people with tact, diplomacy, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
• Possesses a high level of accountability, drives for results, displays a sense of ownership, and is passionate about attaining goals and surpassing expectations.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as license/certification/registration.
