**Role Value Proposition:**

The position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Global Procurement Services and has a horizontal view of the Procurement organization. Primarily responsible for collaborating with various project owners throughout Global Procurement to develop and manage operational projects as assigned. Global Procurement at MetLife is continuously transforming the way we do business with our internal stakeholders by optimizing, standardizing, consolidating, eliminating and automating our various business processes to better and more efficiently serve our stakeholders. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the projects we decide to pursue are effectively managed from concept through to completion. The candidate will need to have demonstrated experience managing projects independently as well as the ability to work with multiple work groups to develop and deliver a plan.

**Key Responsibilities:**

**Onboarding a project:**

The Project Manager will be assigned projects as directed by the AVP of Global Procurement Services and will be responsible for engaging with the project owner to gather a complete understanding of what the key components and objectives of the project are. This is the time when you figure out What the intent of the project is from the owner, What are the goals and What will be the measure(s) of success.

**Developing a project team:**

Once the project is onboarded the Project Manager will need to collaborate with the project owner through a work break down structure to determine who needs to be part of the team. Once determined who needs to be engaged the Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating all meetings along with objectives and follow ups.

**Developing a project plan:**

Once the project goals and team are established the Project Manager will work with the team to outline a project plan. This plan typically will take several sessions to fully complete as there will likely be many people to engage some of which could be in other work locations and even other countries. The Project Manager will need to coordinate sessions to account for the schedules of those who need to contribute in and effort to develop a comprehensive plan within a reasonable amount of time. Once the plan is established the Project Manager will be responsible for getting the plan signed off on by the project owner, team and any other designated authority prior to moving into the execution phase of the project.

**Managing execution of the plan:**

The Project Manager will share in the responsibility of executing on the plan with the project owner. The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for establishing timelines for tasks and holding task owners accountable for delivery. Establishing reoccurring project team meetings as well as break-out sessions should be scheduled and led by the Project Manager in and effort to keep all tasks and timelines on track throughout the project.

**Delivering progress:**

The Project Manager will be responsible for delivering periodic status reports as required to the AVP of Global Procurement Services and Global Procurement Transformation program. There may also be times where the Project Manager will be called upon to put together documentation such as Power Point slides, Visio flows and Ghant charts to summarize the projects intent, deliverables and status to senior level management.

**Closing out the project:**

The nature of a project is that it has a beginning and an end. The Project Manager will not only be responsible for ensuring the project completes on time but also ensure the proper approvals and close out documentation is finalized.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**


+ Demonstrated experience managing projects independently from conception to completion

+ Strong MS Excel, Power Point and MS Project (or equivalent project management tool) experience

+ Above average ability and desire to collaborate with various work groups to execute the goals of the project

+ Strong verbal and written skills

+ Ability to present data for executive consumption

+ Work well under deadline pressure, taking ownership of work and ensuring exceptional follow-through Must be able to multitask and work independently with a high level of energy and precision


+ Bachelors Degree preferred MBA or graduate degree a plus

+ Project Management certification a plus

+ Multi lingual candidates a plus
