Job Summary:

This position will support The Walt Disney Companys domestic and international giving programs. Taking direction from the Manager, Strategic Philanthropy for primary responsibilities, this role will work closely with staff across the Enterprise Social Responsibility (ESR) department, and other business segments to assist with preparing and executing legal agreements, vetting international organizations, assisting business segment partners, and acting as a source of knowledge on global philanthropy. This position will serve as the process lead for grant making, including coordinating charitable contracts between ESR team members and internal Legal partners. The role will also facilitate due diligence processes and track progress against approved charitable budget plans for domestic and international grants to ensure a global and inclusive approach to Disneys philanthropic strategy and compliance with giving guidelines. The Program Manager will help plan, schedule and track department spending and will work on special projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of day-to-day administration of global grant making to ensure compliance with Company policy
  • Provide overall support for the administration of Disneys global grant making and in-kind contributions, in coordination with regions, business units and corporate departments.
  • Conduct reviews and vet foreign and domestic charities for compliance with Company policy.
  • Ensure proper documentation and leadership approvals are in place by preparing final draft legal agreements for execution and routing (collaborating with Legal partners and department Manager). Additionally, ensuring Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) documentation and approvals for grants outside the U.S. are in order and all grant agreements are properly recorded and accessible.
  • Work with regions and business units to facilitate giving to charitable organizations reflected in annual giving plans, and maintain a tracking system for grant progression from concept to implementation, globally.
  • Provide ongoing training across the Company on charitable giving compliance and documentation requirements, create and manage online toolkits and serve as a resource to internal grant makers on guidelines and processes.
  • Provide training and counsel (collaborating with the Systems team) to internal grant making partners related to systems use and due diligence needs, including completion requirements for online templates, how to incorporate due diligence data into the system from online news resources, FCPA form completion and approvals, Charity Navigator, LexisNexis, GuideStar, NGOsource, foreign and domestic government charity registries, and similar resources.
  • Implement any changes in Company policies and continually identify process improvements to increase efficiencies.
  • Support global grant making processes and contribute to the execution of charitable grants and in-kind contributions.
  • With the guidance of the department manager, provide all support for department grant making and in-kind contributions processes related to due diligence of organizations anywhere in the world, legal reviews, vendor agreements, and business requirements.
  • Advise and assist ESR team members on processing of grants/gifts. Help manage grant and in-kind contribution reviews and approvals in the Contributions Management System in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement solutions to complex granting governance processes.
  • Provide consistent approach to vetting and supporting charitable organizations domestically and internationally.
  • Take the lead on grant processing and tracking, coordinating with internal grant makers and grantees.
  • Support the Business Segments and regional sites as needed on special projects and large grants
  • Work with regions, businesses and grant makers across the Company to vet organizations, execute agreements and follow up on key large grants and special projects which may include employee granting programs.
  • Work with Contribution Management Systems team to identify opportunities for grant making efficiencies where possible.
  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvements by working with relationship managers, contribution approvers, and key process stakeholders to summarize and provide recommendations for system enhancements to the Systems Team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have a strong mind for logic and reasoning, be a self-starter who is organized, focused on follow through and adept at multi-tasking. The Program Manager should also be familiar with global philanthropy best practices, demonstrate business savvy, communicate in an articulate manner and exude enthusiasm, commitment, and positivity for the work.
  • Ideally 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in philanthropic or corporate social responsibility programs that have an international component.
  • Process & project management skills, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word, SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cyber Grants (or similar platform) familiarity.
  • Logic and governance theory, nonprofit law, FCPA, Anti-money laundering regulations, rules and regulations on international Tableau, fundamental rules and regulations on international grantmaking.
  • Second language (conversant) Chinese, Mandarin, French, Spanish.

Required Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Philanthropy, Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, International Studies or in related field, and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education

  • MBA or Graduate-level studies in the field of social impact, political science, pre-law, paralegal studies, or related field.
