UWC has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Manager (PM) to join their Academic Programs (AP) team!

The Program Manager is expected to work with industry partners and UWC staff to develop and manage a portfolio of UW Professional & Continuing Education noncredit certificate programs and courses. This includes reviewing programs annually to assess overall program outcomes, content and effectiveness, student satisfaction, fiscal status, and market demand. Strong project management skills are needed to oversee online curriculum revision projects and lead new program development, both of which involve a variety of stakeholders. Program work includes recruiting, managing, and evaluating instructors, so that each course offers high-quality instruction and meets objectives.  This position provides opportunities to work in an organization that operates primarily from funds generated by user fees and emphasizes both quality education and fiscal responsibilities.  
   
New Program Development and Revision
  • Review and revise existing programs to improve quality, expand access, and continually respond to market demand
  • Project manage online curriculum revision projects that involve a variety of stakeholders including contracted content developers and instructors, advisory board members, instructional designers, videographers, and operational staff
  • Lead the development of identified new programs, including managing the curriculum development process, hiring and training contracted instructors, collaborating with Marketing to describe and promote the program, and facilitating operational set-up
  • Coordinate with AP Directors, Marketing, Market Research and Enrollment Services to develop and implement cohesive plans to connect new programs to prospective students in professional communities and industries
  • Effectively facilitate meetings, manage conflict and navigate barriers to bring new programs to market and revise existing program curriculum

    Program Management
  • Hire and manage contracted instructors for portfolio of certificates and courses
  • Effectively manage the resolution of student and instructor issues by working with the appropriate UWC directors and staff
  • Ensure students have access to appropriate resources
  • Manage program advisory boards through facilitative leadership, ongoing engagement and recruitment
  • Update program outcomes and conduct regular strategic program planning  in collaboration with advisory boards, instructors and internal staff
  • Research data, examine the environment, survey students and instructors to understand issues, and propose solutions for programs that are struggling
  • Actively network and participate in professional communities of practice within the scope of the assigned portfolio to build relationships that contribute to overall program growth and enrollment
  • Make responsible fiscal decisions in program planning, budgeting, pricing and tracking that balance goals of maximizing program value, optimizing enrollments and minimizing financial risk
  • Work collaboratively across organizational units on various aspects of program development, instructor hiring and maintenance, and continually improving the students experience.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives and committees as requested for the development and sharing of knowledge about best practices in education for working professionals

    REQUIREMENTS:
  • Masters degree, ideally in management, education, law, science, technology or related field, with 2-3 years of relevant experience managing multiple programs with demonstrated success in program planning, administration, meeting facilitation, and budgeting. 
  • Other qualities necessary for successful performance in the position include excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member.

  • demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple priorities and programs
  • strong organizational skills
  • familiarity with administrative policies and procedures in a university environment, or specifically the University of Washington
