Overview

The Princeton Internships in Civic Service (PICS) Program Coordinator is a new position with the Pace Center. PICS is an alumni-founded program that offers paid summer internships for Princeton undergraduates to work in nonprofit organizations. The Program Coordinator advises PICS students through the internship application process and provides ongoing support throughout the summer and beyond, as well as seeks representation of diverse interests of students and communities in a commitment to the University's priority around diversity and inclusion. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all PICS events, including trainings, information sessions, and interviews. The Program Coordinator manages large volumes of student data.

 

The Program Coordinator will report to the PICS Program Director and will have significant collaboration within Pace and with other Princeton-sponsored internship programs.

 

Responsibilities

Events management - 30%

The Program Coordinator organizes and hosts approximately 5 major events and several smaller events throughout the year. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Program Director to develop meaningful content for events such as orientations and reflections, as well as coordinates all event logistics. The Program Coordinator serves as an effective and welcoming host for a variety of audiences at events, including students, alumni, and community partner organizations. 

 

Student advising and support- 30%

The Program Coordinator supports students at every stage of the internship process, including:

  • Promoting PICS internships to students who can most benefit from the experience
  • Advising interested students about which internship to choose based on their individual interests
  • Guiding students on interview etiquette
  • Providing orientation information that positions students for success
  • Managing expectations between accepted students and internship hosts
  • Providing support to students in their development during their summer experiences
  • Facilitating personal and professional reflection both as students return from their internships and through ongoing outreach during the year following their internships

Data management - 30%

The Program Coordinator manages all records for the 600+ student applicants PICS receives each year, as well as records for the 200 community partner organizations that serve as host sites for internships. The Program Coordinator supports reporting and data collection. 

 

Student outreach and development- 10%

The Program Coordinator supports PICS communications efforts by writing, editing and curating digital and print promotional content in collaboration with the Pace communications specialist. The Program Coordinator also collaborates with other Pace staff to meet the shared goals of the PICS program and Pace Center to prepare students through trainings and workshops, and broaden the range of internships and program practices to support students engagement.

 

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of related experience
  • Extensive event planning experience
  • Proven success in program coordination 
  • Proven success in advising and mentoring students
  • Experience working in a University setting 
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience with supporting students through challenges preferred
  • Exceptional communication abilities with excellent interpersonal, oral, written and listening skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a high degree of self-motivation
