Seeking a Chemistry or Biochemistry degree and GMP experience.

This is a manufacturing role with repetitive tasks that must be accomplished with very high accuracy.

The Production Chemist is responsible for production of complicated mixtures for Cepheid€™s products. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: routine production; process validation for projects moving from development into manufacturing; preparation of buffers and maintenance of equipment. The chemist works closely with the Oligo Production to produce individual oligonucleotide parts.  


  • Fulfill all training requirements for Oligo Mixing, instrument use, and necessary oligo production tasks, following regulations
  • Make batch records

  • Work in GMP manufacturing environment

    Detail oriented must be very accurate and precise, routine procedures with extreme accuracy

    Manufacturing oriented

  • Formulation of chemical reagents under a cGMP environment for use in Cepheid in-vitro diagnostic products following SOPs
  • Maintain inventory of raw materials and final mixtures
  • Prepare buffer stocks and solutions following SOPs
  • Operation of analytical instruments: HPLC, UHPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, fluorescent spectroscopy and ability to use other methods for reagents characterization
  • Process production materials using bench techniques and lab instrumentation (Prep HPLC, pH probe, balances, NanoDrop, and rotary evaporators)
  • Keep good laboratory records, document process protocols following GDP
  • Participate in validation and maintenance activities of specialized production equipment
  • Some process development work will be included in the job responsibilities
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members to maximize production efficiencies and meet deadlines
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, and directions from senior associates


    • B.S. in Chemistry/Biochemistry with a minimum of 2 years industry experience
    • Working knowledge of GMP regulations
    • Experience in a laboratory environment and familiarity with instrumentation and documentation
    • Basic knowledge of HPLC, LC-MS, UV-Vis, fluorescent and other analytical instruments.
    • Ability to think logically, prioritize tasks, be self-motivated, and work effectively in a team environment
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to perform primary job duties under minimal supervision.


      • Experience in analysis of synthetic oligonucleotides is a plus
      • Industrial experience and LC-MS knowledge are preferred.
