Product Manager

The Product Manager, Connectivity and Informatics is responsible for the role of a product owner within Cepheid€™s Agile development team.  The Product Manager position will focus on the translation of connectivity and informatics strategy into detailed product requirements and a release schedule.  The Product Manager is also responsible for conducting voice of customer activity to prioritize feature and confirm appropriate designs.


  • Coordinate with product management leaders and other business stakeholders to inform, understand, and execute product strategy
  • Translate Cepheid connectivity and informatics strategy and voice of customer into compelling and actionable product requirements
  • Build and maintain knowledge of Cepheid€™s business needs, markets, customers, and competitors to enable accurate and detailed advocacy for voice of business and customer on product development teams
  • Execute qualitative and quantitative voice of customer activity throughout the planning, development, and on market phases of the product life cycle
  • Collaborate closely with technical project leadership and project management to deliver requirements in a timely and complete manner
  • Ensure release timing and scope alignment with other areas of the Cepheid product line
  • Use Design Thinking and Agile and Lean Software Development to enable adoption of best practices within Cepheid


    • Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time


      Education and Experience (in years): 

      • BA/BS degree required, preferably within a technical area of focus; MS/MBA highly preferred
      • 5+ years of experience in software product management and product delivery preferably of software products in the medical or diagnostic industries

        Knowledge and skills: 

        • Demonstrates the ability to learn new product domains within the realm of product owner responsibilities, IVD product experience strongly preferred
        • Experience constructing and executing qualitative and quantitative customer need and product feedback research
        • Demonstrated experience of translating customer needs into stories and detailed acceptance criteria that can be used for development purposes
        • Excellent presentation skills; ability to manage complex product environments with competing and changing priorities in a regulated environment
        • Experience working directly with customers and customer thought leaders


          • Working knowledge of diagnostic clinical workflow for laboratory, point of care testing and outpatient clinical settings and related software systems: LIS, LIS Middleware, Point of Care Data Managers, Electronic Medical Records, Healthcare Information Exchange
          • Working knowledge of healthcare integration standards: HL7, FHIR, POCT01
          • Working knowledge of healthcare cybersecurity and data privacy standards: HIPAA, UL2900, ISO 27001
          • Working knowledge of cloud software
