Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Fabricate, assemble, and install prototype equipment, used in research and development on a large variety of aircraft, ranging from single engine airplanes to complex multi-engine turbojets, and helicopters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must be familiar with military technical manuals, technical orders, modification work orders and blue prints.
Fabricate and install prototype equipment used in the testing of new aircraft systems at the verbal direction of customers and engineers
Installs parts and equipment on aircraft and makes modifications to existing airframe to accommodate installations utilizing approved data or as directed by an engineer. Fabricate and install prototype equipment used in the testing of new aircraft systems at the verbal direction of customers and engineers.

Performs sheet metal production work including complex fabrication, modification, and installation on a variety of aircraft.
Must work with various aluminum alloys, steel, stainless steel copper, brass and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals in the fabrication of production metal parts for aircraft modifications.
Must construct, assemble and install irregular items with instruction. Will be required to safely operate shop fabrication equipment.
Uses tools and equipment associated with sheet metal shop, such as basic hand tools, and forming machines, lathes, milling machines, brakes, shears, saws and drill presses.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and rudimentary drawings.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Background in sheet metal fabrication technician skills
Strong knowledge of metal forming
Strong knowledge of airframe systems on UH-60 and Fixed Wing aircraft
Excellent communication skills, and ability to multi-task and manage time
Ability to work in a team environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members
Must possess communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.
Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently
Ability to multi-task
Climbs on top of and down from aircraft using aircraft hand/foot holds, capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Minimum five (5) years recent and total experience in Airframe repair, plus demonstrated ability to fabricate complex items from rudimentary drawings or verbal direction.
Must have ability to read, interpret and apply technical manual (TM) instructions as well as other approved sources of technical information.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and may be required to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Position may require travel.
Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Thorough knowledge of shop safety rules is a must.
