The Private Equity Research Analyst is a member of the Global CIM Alternatives Private Equity / Real Estate research team which is focused on sourcing compelling private equity opportunities for distribution to Citi Private Banks global ultra-high net worth client base. The position involves supporting senior research analysts in all aspects of the origination, analysis, diligence, structuring, and syndication of North America and Latin America (Americas) private equity investment opportunities. Investment vehicles sourced by the team include investment funds, separate accounts, investment club structures, and co-investments.


The Private Equity Research Analyst will participate in the investment process including investment underwriting/due diligence, structuring, obtaining committee approvals, syndication, and ongoing monitoring. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, highly motivated, and self-starting individual who is passionate about private equity, is comfortable working on multiple transactions at once and has an analytical background.


**Responsibilities:**


+ Assist in the analysis and diligence of private equity investment opportunities in the Americas.

+ Analyze prospective investment opportunities to assess the most attractive investments by fund type, investment manager, and investment strategy.

+ Create and model financial projections and other analyses used in evaluating potential investments.

+ Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as offering memorandums and roadshow presentations.

+ Assist in the structuring of private equity products as well as support distribution and marketing efforts.

+ Prepare and present investment packages to Citis internal investment and risk committees.

+ Respond to client/banker inquiries on existing private equity products and product offerings.

+ On-going monitoring of existing and prospective private equity investment vehicles.

+ Provide timely and frequent updates to senior level management on an on-going basis as necessary.

+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


**Qualifications:**


+ 2-5 yrs relevant experience.

+ Background or previous involvement in private equity or investment management preferred.

+ Experience investing in private equity investment funds and co-investments.

+ Strong financial modeling, analytical skills and attention to detail.

+ Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel (modeling), Microsoft Word (investment memos) and Microsoft PowerPoint (presentations)

+ Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment.

+ Strong organizational skills and the demonstrated ability to work productively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and firm deadlines.

+ Must be able to work as an effective, collaborative team member as well as independently on select tasks when necessary.


**Education:**


+ Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field required.
