**Description of the Position**


Citi Private Bank's Sports Finance team is a leader in the sports financing field, with years of combined industry experience and almost $2 billion in loan commitments to teams, league offices and affiliated entities in the National Hockey League, National Basketball Association, National Football League and Major League Baseball. We have structured and closed numerous syndicated loans as a lead arranger and also support sports clients through bilateral loans and as a participant in syndicated loans.


Since the mid-1990s, the team has banked approximately 25% of all sports teams in the four major North American sports leagues, and we currently provide significant capital to all four of the respective league offices and related league-wide financing programs. We provide loans to our team and league clients for acquisitions, working capital and other general corporate purposes.


Citi is one of a limited number of financial institutions with a dedicated sports finance group, and the groups placement in the private bank aligns the business with target market team owner clients.


The Sports Finance Head is an experienced lending professional within the Investment Finance (I/F) organization, with a full range of responsibilities including new business origination, direct client coverage and product ownership.


The role requires strong origination/marketing capabilities, excellent structuring skills and sound credit judgement in corporate finance as a Business Senior Credit Officer.


The Sports Finance Head has responsibility for generating new business opportunities, working with the Private Bankers managing client relationships and identifying cross-sell revenue opportunities across the whole Citi platform, managing the Sports Finance Product Program ensuring it is competitive in the marketplace and adhering to all internal standards and working in coordination with I/F Specialists to manage existing credits, while ensuring maintenance of the highest credit standards.


The ideal candidate has a deep corporate finance background and a thorough knowledge and passion for the sports industry, and is a self-motivated logical, analytical thinker who is comfortable negotiating and approving complex transactions and managing the Sports Finance P&L. The candidate must also exhibit the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas, and must exhibit the strongest professionalism in client interaction as well as in high-pressure situations.


Job Overview


+ Marketing and sale of the full IF Product range, including client calling and account planning in partnership with Private Bankers

+ Coordination and partnership with relevant groups outside the private bank, including sports advisory, private placements and agency and trust to provide comprehensive client solutions

+ Understand and anticipate clients' needs, following up with effective products and financial solutions

+ Maximize revenue generation while achieving at least minimum return targets ensuring responsible lending growth

+ Responsible for appropriate transaction structuring and execution with appropriate risk and return characteristics, ensuring appropriate Credit Policy and Risk Acceptance standard compliance

+ Define, coordinate and manage the Sport Finance Product Program

+ Define and negotiate the transaction and credit framework (including covenant definition)

+ Oversee preparation of EDAC (capital allocation) and Green light Memos (as applicable)

+ Oversee the Credit Approval write up, for both new deals and annual reviews ]

+ Negotiation, obtaining and closing of credit documentation, ensuring compliance with all Citi and external policies and coordinating with external counsel and Risk Management, as required

+ Responsible for the early problem recognition process and must propose, when deemed appropriate, credit classification and appropriate risk rating on specific transactions/ relationships

+ Participation in remedial management actions together with Remedial Risk team, as required


**Qualifications:**


This is a demanding role for which a strong mix of credit and process skills is crucial. It requires an ability to influence stakeholders, including clients, seniors of the bank, Risk, auditors or other areas of the Bank, to deliver against budget and to ensure processes meet the Banks highest standards.


+ Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills

+ Strong marketing skills and deep knowledge of the Sports industry

+ Over 10-15 years experience as a Credit Officer and is currently a Senior Credit Officer

+ Broad knowledge of Citibanks Credit Policies

+ Broad knowledge of financial markets, investments, banking and loan products

+ Financial and cash flow modelling

+ Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

+ Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

+ Good negotiation skills

+ Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving

+ Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment

+ Team player
