The Cardiac and Vascular Group brings all of our

As a Principal Test Engineer,
you will work with development teams to translate customer and project
requirements into performance criteria, alternative approach analyses, and
selection criteria to determine the optimum design approaches. You will contribute
to the development of design solutions that address broad development problems
involving class III implantable devices and accessories.

**Day in the Life:**

+ Designand develop advanced new test methods, measurement techniques, and fixtures.

+ Preparedetailed design specifications that define performance and interfacerequirements for components.

+ Developverification and validation testing and perform analysis to evaluate designsfor short- and long-term performance and reliability.

+ Documentfixture design in accordance with Drafting standards.

+ Generateand document invention disclosures to secure intellectual property ontherapies, procedures, and associated devices.

+ Organize,prepare and present technical information material in a clear, effective andskillful manner to management, marketing, and clinicians using high-qualitydrawings and prototypes.

+ Workwith external medical professionals and internal technical colleagues todetermine device requirements.

+ Reviewand approve document change requests for design, materials, and processdocumentation. Create performance, design, and process specifications.

+ Coordinatewith outside consultants and clinicians to ensure testing and analyses requiredto fully qualify and verify device designs are appropriately representative ofexpected use conditions.

+ Performrequired training and certifications to demonstrate compliance with applicabledivisional and corporate policies in accordance with individual trainingmatrix.

+ Directthe activities of technicians to ensure project milestones are completedcorrectly and on schedule.

+ Coachand mentor interns and co-op students.

+ Maintaintechnical knowledge current with advancing by engaging in continuing educationprograms in selected disciplines and in new fields of engineering and/orproject management.

+ Interactprofessionally at all levels throughout the company and with consultants andcustomers. Comply with applicable corporate and departmental policies.

+ Proactively manage deliverables and provide regularupdates to both project and functional management. Be responsive to changes inwork direction and develop creative plans for meeting aggressive businessmilestones.

**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**

+ B. S.in Materials Science, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering,Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or related

+ 7+years of relevant industry experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years ofrelevant industry experience.

**Specialized Knowledge or Skills Required**

+ Masteryof a specialty area (test engineering) and full knowledge of industry practices

+ Knowledgeof basic material characterization techniques, including mechanical andanalytical

+ Knowledgeof the product development process

+ PCexperience (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.)

**Nice to Have:**

+ Knowledgeof nitinol processing and properties, including fatigue

+ Experiencein related disciplines such as structural analysis including FEA, fatigueanalysis, metallurgy, and strength of materials

+ Handson experience with TA and/or Instron electromechanical fatigue testing systems

+ Knowledgeand experience with application of technical principles, theories, and designconcepts in implantable product design including product, process, andtechnology development and evaluation

+ Knowledgeof risk management analysis including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA),advanced analytical and statistical techniques, and DOE

+ Experiencewith Statistical Analysis Software such as Minitab, JMP

+ Experiencewith CAD software such as Creo

+ Experiencewith Analysis software such as MATLAB, LabView

+ Experiencewith Tool/Fixture Design

+ Experiencewith Mechanical/Dimensional Metrology

+ Knowledgeof Fixture Specifications (i.e. GDT per ASME Y14)

+ Knowledgeof ASME, ASTM, ISO Testing Standards Protocols

+ Knowledgeof FEM/FEA software and design optimization techniques

+ Knowledgeof Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)/Quality System Regulations (QSR)

+ Knowledge of FDA, MDD, and CMDR regulations
