**Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer** to support the Autoline Operations areas for the Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) cell. This position will be focused on manufacturing engineering support for multiple SMT production lines. These lines consist of a number of process including stencil printing, SPI, pick and place, reflow, and x-ray reviews.

This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.

**The Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:**

**Factory Support**

+ Working closely with other engineers, technicians, and operators to aide in the production of compliant hardware
+ Assisting the floor in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability
+ Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on the above metrics
+ Troubleshooting process related issues across a number of machines
+ Assisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials
+ Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
+ Interfacing with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues

**Process Development**

+ Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on quality
+ Development of methods for process monitoring using existing and new interfaces
+ Developing/revising process documentation and work instructions
+ Working in cross functional teams to develop new data, software, and database applications to support current and future manufacturing needs
+ Providing ROI justification for process improvements
+ Specifying, identifying and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production with a focus on the machine integration and data collection

**Design Support**

+ Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products
+ Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers
+ Participating in design producibility reviews for new products

This requisition may be filled as Principal Manufacturing Engineer or a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer, based on the qualifications below.

**Candidates must be able to work 2nd shift or 3rd shift. There is a differential (higher pay) for 2nd and 3rd shift.**

**Basic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer:**

+ Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
+ 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS)
+ Hands on manufacturing experience
+ Fluency in MS Office software applications
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)
+ Ability to work 2nd shift, which starts around 3pm OR 3rd shift, which starts around 11pm

**Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer:**

+ Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
+ 9 years of relevant professional experience (or 7 years with an MS)
+ Hands on manufacturing experience
+ Fluency in MS Office software applications
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required.)
+ Ability to work 2nd shift, which starts around 3pm OR 3rd shift, which starts around 11pm

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience with Lean Six Sigma
+ Experience with SMT manufacturing: stencil printing, SPI, pick and place, reflow, x-ray, optical inspection (AOI)
+ Experience with PWB/CCA/microelectronics manufacturing developing
+ Knowledge of microelectronics technology, assembly, and materials
+ Familiarity with J-STD, MIL-STD requirements, and Space Class hardware requirements
+ Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development
+ Experience with 2D/3D AOI (automated optical inspection) processes including machine programming and/or experience with AXI (automated x-ray inspection) processes including machine programming

MANUMS

Salary Range: $87,780.00 - $131,670.00Salary Range 2: $108,864.00 - $163,296.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
