**Job Summary:**
As a Principal Materials Process Engineer you will be part of a team that designs and fabricates solar arrays and deployable mechanical systems on a large variety of commercial and military programs. Your primary responsibility will be to support the materials and process requirements of these programs. However, in our fast paced environment, we have a need for an individual who is able to fulfill the requirements of a program beyond the materials process role. This position requires an individual who is driven, self-starting, and has a desire to be part of a team of passionate peers.

This position is located in Goleta, California.

**Job Responsibilities:**

+ Provide Materials and Processes (M&P) technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production, and maintenance phases of a project.
+ Recommend and support the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes for military and commercial space subsystems.
+ Use independent advanced knowledge and ideas to guide the development and implementation of technical solutions to highly complex problems.
+ Participate in and/or lead FMECA, and criticality analysis activities.
+ Create parts, materials, and process (PMP) plans in compliance of customer technical documents (Statements of Work, Performance Specifications, Subcontractor Mission Assurance Requirements, etc)
+ Participate in anomaly resolution by supporting Failure Review Boards (FRB) and providing non-conformance and failure analysis assessments.
+ Review and approve analysis and engineering drawings performed by team members.
+ Interact with internal and external customers.
+ Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.
+ Collaborate with other disciplines including design, manufacturing, quality, and procurement.

This position may be filled at a level 3 or level 4.

**Qualifications:**

**Basic Qualifications:**

**Level 3 Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree from a STEM program and a minimum of 5 years' of Materials Process Engineering experience OR a Master's from a STEM program and a minimum of 3 years' of Materials Process Engineering experience OR a PhD from a STEM program and zero years' of experience.

**Level 4 Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree from a STEM program and a minimum of 9 years' of Materials Process Engineering experience OR a Master's from a STEM program and a minimum of 7 years' of Materials Process Engineering experience OR a PhD from a STEM program and a minimum of 4 years' of Materials Process Engineering experience.

+ Experience in a materials and processes (M&P) technical engineer position.
+ Experience in providing technical guidance and direction to engineering team in the design, test, production, and maintenance phases of a project.
+ Experience in performing FMECA, criticality analysis, and reliability analysis.
+ Familiarity with common manufacturing processes, chemical coatings, metals and their treatments in the manufacturing of satellite subsystems. (Solar Arrays, Deployable Mechanical Systems)
+ Understanding of challenges encountered for materials in space applications. (outgassing, atomic oxygen, cold welding, dissimilar metals).
+ US Citizenship required

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Prior spacecraft/satellite leadership experience.
+ Experience in design, analysis, or test of solar arrays, deployable mechanical systems, or other space technology.
+ Experience in generating engineering schedules.
+ Experience in requirement management systems such as DOORS.
+ CREO or other CAD experience.
