Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Principal Engineering Technical Writer to join our team in Rolling Meadows, IL

Candidate will be responsible for authoring/editing technical documents detailing highly complex, state-of-the-art Targeting Systems and Countermeasures equipment designed to protect host aircraft from Radio Frequency (RF) and Infrared (IR) threats. Systems are installed on a wide variety of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. Technical documents include, but are not limited to: Flight Manuals, Job Guides, General Equipment/Systems, Fault Isolation, and Fault Reporting. Technical content will include Theory of Operation, Maintenance, Operation, Troubleshooting, and Wiring Diagrams. The applicant must possess the ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical specifications and instructions to both operators and maintainers of the equipment. The candidate will acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of peer's documentation.


**Basic Qualifications:**

Bachelors' degree and 6 years related experience or Master's and 4 years related experience
Demonstrated competency in desktop and publishing applications, should include the following:
Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), and at least one of the following: Framemaker, Broadvision (QuickSilver), Arbortext Editor or Adobe Acrobat Suite
Other knowledge, skills, and experience include:
print production
interpreting engineering documentation, to include wiring diagrams and schematics
conducting customer reviews
U.S. citizen and ability to obtain Security Clearance-Secret

**Preferred Qualifications:**

Experience with XML/SGML and basic knowledge of graphics packages such as IsoDraw, Corel Suite or Adobe Illustrator.
Experience with Mil Standards (Air Force, Navy, Army)
Experience with Content Management Systems
Knowledge of S1000D or SCORM
Military background with experience documenting countermeasures systems, ATE, Radar, or targeting systems
