PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The SAP Academy for Presales is a one year, comprehensive and innovative training program for the next generation of SAP Presales talent.  This high-touch, immersion style program is part of the SAP Academy for Early Talent and is based in SAPs world-class global learning center in San Ramon, California.   The program is designed for recent university graduates with 2-4 years of professional experience.  The program is structured in two main segments -- 6 months of classroom and hands-on training on a broad range of business and soft skills topics, followed by 5-6 months of product-specific training done collaboratively with field Presales/LOBs.  The 6 months of classroom experience takes place at the SAP Academy located in San Ramon, California. 

Presales Academy faculty are primarily responsible for the following objectives:

  • Creating and delivering comprehensive Presales classroom content in an innovative, engaging and inspiring way during the Associates first 6 months at the Academy 
  • Participating in dry runs as Associates deliver customer facing presentations weekly  (faculty plays the role of the customer)
  • Acting as the customer and evaluating Associate presentations
  • Providing 1:1 and at times group feedback and coaching to ensure Associates are continuously developing
  • Working with SMEs who come to the Academy to ensure they are fully prepared to deliver the content they are coming to present
  • Participating in the frequent executive visits to the Academy
  • Participating in team events beyond the classroom (International Food Festival, graduation events, hosting dinners for special guests upon occasion)
  • Working closely with other faculty members to review and constantly improve the existing curriculum while providing feedback and ideas on new curriculum element that should be added
  • Communicating frequently with the Associates MU leads/mentors as to their progress during their time at the Academy
  • Partnering with field Presales and MUs to further develop and monitor the students detailed product ramp-up during their second 6 months.  

At the end of the training year, successful faculty members will have fully prepared Academy students to confidently and credibly assume Presales responsibilities for their assigned area as a Presales Associate.  Students report directly to the faculty for the yearlong program after which they move into an MU headcount and will report to a local manager.    

Note:  This position is based in San Ramon, California. 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Solid understanding of overall SAP solution footprint
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with SAP Presales best practices required
  • Teaching experience is a plus
  • Multi-national business experience is a plus
  • Passion and successful track record for mentoring others
  • Ability to deliver training content in an inspirational, creative and exciting way to an early talent audience required
  • Strong team orientation ability to build relationships at every level of the organization and act as a strong motivator who knows how to influence others
  • Detail oriented completing all tasks thoroughly, on-time and consistently updating all stakeholders as to progress
  • Proven track record of adopting SAP best practices and being an agent for change
  • Bachelor equivalent: minimum requirement
  • Master equivalent: optional
  • MBA / Ph.D: optional
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken as all classes and communication will be in English)

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Curriculum Development and Delivery

  • Deliver (enhance as needed) a robust, interactive, innovative curriculum for the 6 month training in San Ramon, California
  • Organize guest speakers and third party trainers/facilitators
  • Day-to-day management and coaching of students

Communication

  • Communicate frequently with LOB Presales leadership as to the progress of the students in the program who will eventually be part of their market unit
  • Stay aligned with peer faculty, actively sharing lessons learned and best practices to improve the overall program

General

  • Exhibit agility and flexibility towards meeting business needs of a new program
  • Exhibit a consistent passion and enthusiasm for the development of early talent
  • Be proactive in finding solutions to challenges, sharing information so others can benefit
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches to increase personal and team productivity
